Ready to vote, step 3: Please consider voting as EARLY as you can. I know a lot of people enjoy the tradition of voting on Election Day, Tuesday November 5th, but I urge you to vote as early as you possibly can. I for one applied for an absentee ballot that I will return as soon as I get it, early September. "Regular" early voting period starts Thursday October 17th. Why vote early? Two reasons: 1. If you have any problems with your registration, you can correct them during the Early Voting period. If you run late, get sick, miss the bus, or get a flat tire, you can try another day. If you wait until November 5th, these options are closed to you. 2. This is going to be a "turnout election." Many groups will be spending time and money on Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts. Who you vote for is private, but whether you have already voted is public information. If you vote early, then the GOTV folks who agree with your views can spend their time and money reaching out to other potential voters, making their efforts more efficient.

However you do it, please vote! And I will ask you to please vote for President Kamala Harris & VP Tim Walz, Governor Josh Stein, and Democrats all the way down the ballot. We have good candidates, and every position on the ballot is important. North Carolina is in play this year and we are an incredibly important state. Your vote is your voice! Please use it, and encourage the people in your life to do so as well.
