🎤 Who would've bought a ticket to a ‘71 Brunswick Summer Tour?

The Chi‑Lites released "Have You Seen Her" in October 1971, which soared to #1 on Billboard R&B charts and #3 on the Hot 100 – one of Brunswick’s signature hits

Earlier in 1971, the label saw multiple top-10 R&B singles:

"Could I Forget You" by Tyrone Davis reached #10 on R&B charts.

"(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People" by The Chi‑Lites hit #4.

Other hits included Jackie Wilson, The Lost Generation, and The Artistics scoring with titles like “You Keep Me Holding On” and “Talking the Teenage Language”

Brunswick’s R&B chart dominance peaked in 1971, with significant releases across multiple top-tier artists — making that year particularly fruitful.

On Wednesday, we had the great pleasure of joining with Overflow Coffee in Chicago to celebrate 65 years of Brunswick Records & the 83rd birthday of Dr. Marshall Thompson, the last man standing of The Chi-Lites. 🖤🎶

Thank you to Fox 32 Chicago for this fantastic clip and NBC Chicago

A wonderful crowd packed Overflow to celebrate, in the very same building where timeless classics like "Oh Girl" and "Have You Seen Her" were cut.

We were honored to be surrounded by other legends — special thanks to Jacquiline Record, Willie Henderson, Fred Simon of the lost Generation, Diana Simon, Gene Chandler, Samotta Acklin & Marcus White, George Daniels, Paul Tarnopol, Gregory Moore, Chicago Soul to Soul, Donald Burnside, Tara Thompson, Larisa Larisa, Liv Roskos, Bill Dahl, Bob Pruter, Kevin Goins, Al Greer, Tracey Bell, Theo Huff & Mable Buckner. — plus countless other notable Chicago artists, writers, radio personalities, and visionaries who helped shape this legacy.🤩

Overflow is home to 8 new Brunswick plaques, proudly displayed in their Hall of Fame.

Thank you, Overflow, and thank you to all the Brunswick family and fans who showed up to celebrate lighting the path for the next generation of phenomenal Chicago soul, r&b, and jazz artists.

Happy World Listening Day 🎧💿

It's a great time to throw on some Barbara Acklin, The Chi-Lites, or, heck, maybe even Gene Chandler. We aren't biased toward our artists... why would you say that?

It’s a big day in soul history! 🎉

Wishing a joyful 87th birthday to the legendary Gene “The Duke of Earl” Chandler. 🎁

His bittersweet classic “The Girl Don’t Care” still cuts deep - a timeless reminder of heartbreak wrapped in velvet vocals. And Gene? Still smooth, still soulful, still showing the kids how it’s done.

A classic song makes a great cover, and we LOVE a great cover 🫶🏿

Maybe it's because Brunswick songs are so timeless 🤷🏾‍♀️

Please groove to Swing Out Sister's cover of Barbara Acklin's "Am I The Same Girl?"
