𝐵𝑒𝒽𝒾𝓃𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒸𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓇: On a 17-acre site at one of the highest elevations in Chatham County sits FireClay Cellars, a vineyard reimagining the possibilities of North Carolina wine.🍷

Owned by Sue Mitran, her husband Andrei Mitran and their son, Erik Mitran, FireClay is truly a family effort. From planting the first grapes 🍇 deep in the red North Carolina clay that inspired their name, to welcoming guests into the Siler City tasting room, Sue, Andrei and Erik are committed to being hands-on.

With newer offerings – mead and cider – and plans for experimentation this summer, FireClay continues to innovate and change expectations.

Read more about FireClay’s story and how they’re changing the North Carolina wine game:

With hilltop views and unexpected varietals, FireClay Cellars is a family's 16-year effort to change what North Carolina wine can be.

Sophia Munson began dreaming up law firm names in her Advanced Placement U.S. History class in high school, and followed that dream to an impassioned career.

At William & Mary Law School, she began to see practicing law not just as a career, but a way to make the world a better place.

In 2022, Sophia joined her husband, Michael Munson, at his firm, Munson Law Firm PLLC, in Chapel Hill. There, she works closely with her clients and savors the longstanding relationships that arise from her work.

One of Sophia’s latest ventures is an initiative to help older adults without other support make financial and healthcare decisions.

When Selina Lopez moved to rural North Carolina from Mexico at age 5, she had to navigate elementary school without an ESL program and became an interpreter for her family, all while facing discrimination.

A neighbor suggested that she apply to the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham for high school, and Selina was accepted. Her time there opened her eyes to a world of possibilities. In 2016 she became a U.S. citizen, and in 2017 she graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with dual degrees in psychology and Hispanic literature and cultures.

Along the way, Selina poured herself into becoming the mentor she never had. She is the youth program director at El Vínculo Hispano / The Hispanic Liaison in Siler City and leads Orgullo Latinx Pride, a holistic program serving Latinx students at Chatham County Schools.

Selina is currently studying to become an even better social worker and hopes to expand OLP’s reach.

There’s one thing that connects Karen Dalton’s two passions, stained glass and pilates: They require attention to the smallest detail.

Karen began teaching herself stained glass nearly 50 years ago and now makes windows, door frame inserts, transoms and – her favorite – lamps for her business, Dalton Glass Designs.

During COVID, her stained glass creations were a way to connect with friends and strangers in the community. Similarly, meeting people from all walks of life is one of Karen’s favorite parts of teaching private Pilates sessions at Circle City Pilates in downtown Pittsboro.
