🌈 June 6: Parade from the Town of Chapel Hill's Peace and Justice Plaza to 140 West Franklin Street Plaza, and enjoy drag story times, art installations, live performances, delicious eats and more from noon to 3 p.m.

🐏 June 26: Keep the momentum going at the Town of Carrboro, NC's Pride Piper Walk, starting at 4:30 p.m. Help roll Rainbow Ram down Weaver Street from El Centro Hispano, Inc. to the Town Commons, then stay for the Carrboro Orgullo Pride Celebration from 5-9 p.m. Savor local food, hit the dance floor and connect with organizations that support and celebrate the Latinx LGBTQIA+ community.

For Amanda Klein and Michael Klein, H&H Bagels was already part of their story long before it came to Chapel Hill. 🍎🥯🗽

The former New Yorkers used to stop by H&H’s Upper East Side location after long runs in Central Park, eventually associating an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and tomato with the feeling of home. Now, the couple has brought that same beloved brand to University Place, creating a spot where Northeast transplants can revisit old memories and first-timers can discover the iconic bagels for themselves.

From kettle-boiled classics and made-to-order breakfast sandwiches to a custom coffee blend developed by Ruby Coffee Roasters, the shop focuses on fresh ingredients and a hands-on approach from the owners themselves.

“The number of former New Yorkers who have come in and have stories about their time with H&H, how much they miss it and how excited they are that we’re here has been really fulfilling,” Michael says.

Meet our adoptable pet of the week: Ginger 🐾

Ginger arrived at the shelter fearful with an embedded collar. Thanks to good medical care and her loving foster home, she has made great progress learning to socialize with people and understand that the world is not such a scary place. She especially loves the company of other dog-friendly dogs. This beautiful girl is looking for a good home where people will be patient and kind as she learns to shine.
