Mark your calendars! Brown Butterfly Books - Diverse Books for All will have several new books this event!

Due to personal circumstances, author and illustrator Rosalie Haizlett will be unable to take part in the 2025 West Virginia Book Festival.

With this change, the featured speakers for the 2025 event will be Pulitzer Prize winning author Jayne Anne Phillips, sci-fi and fantasy author Neal Shusterman, New York Times bestselling author TJ Klune, and local novelist Rajia Hassib.

The 2025 West Virginia Book Festival will be held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on Saturday, October 25. Now entering its 22nd year, the Festival will again feature presentations from bestselling national authors, local and regional authors, writing workshops, family activities, a literary marketplace, and the annual Used Book Sale. All events and programs are free and open to the public.

A full schedule of events will be announced in May.

What are you passionate about in your writing?

For me, it is very important to “write my own story”. This is especially vital for Brown & Black authors. Historically, we were not the ones writing the very minimum number of children’s books with black characters or stories. (Same for adult novels). That’s why I’m so passionate about Brown Butterfly Books - Diverse Books for All & Brown Butterfly Publishing. I want as many BIPOC authors as possible to allow me to guide them out of their writing cocoons so they can soar as published authors. 👐🏾🦋 You have a story to tell and people need to read it!
*Of course, I want everyone who want to be an author to be one and my clients have not been only brown and black.
