Happy 50th, Charleston Magazine! Epic is an understatement.

An epic ride, indeed!
Our August anniversary edition celebrates Charleston magazine’s big 5-0 and features “The Way We Were,” six personal essays on what life was like here during the summer of 1975; a survey of the area’s economic evolution from sleepy port town to boomtown over the past five decades; and the winners and finalists of our annual ”Images of Charleston” photo contest, including cover shot Pier at Dawn by Owen Jackson .

A huge thank you to all of the writers, photographers, artists, designers, and editors who have chronicled our city so beautifully, the business owners who have advertised, and our readers. We wouldn’t be here without you!

Pick up a copy of our August golden 50th anniversary issue at your favorite local newsstand or subscribe to our digital issue at charlestonmag.com.
