🎯 Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Sharp Shooters

We were honored to gather with this year's class, alumni, program sponsors and friends to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sharp Shooters.

Throughout the evening, members of the Class of 2026 shared reflections on leadership, their appreciation for the opportunities they've found in West Virginia and their commitment to helping develop the next generation of leaders who will shape our state's future.

The evening was filled with laughter, networking, familiar faces and new connections. We were also excited to capture photos of the Class of 2026 alongside Sharp Shooters alumni, creating a special tribute to the program's lasting impact.

Thank you to 1010 Bridge Restaurant & Catering for a phenomenal catering and to our sponsors for helping make the evening such a success.

“God designed my path the way He did on purpose. There were moments I doubted, but I remained faithful and listened to my wife, Sarah, and now I get the blessing of seeing how His plan was, in fact, perfect—and He isn’t done with me.”

Meet Ben Beakes, owner, founder and managing member of 3PS, LLC, a Charleston-based government affairs and public relations firm, recognized in the Sharp Shooters Class of 2026. After taking a leap of faith to launch the company with his wife in 2015, Ben has grown 3PS from a one-person operation into a thriving business serving clients across a wide range of industries, all while remaining committed to faith, family and community service.

Congratulations, Ben!

Let's show the world who West Virginia really is.

Our state has long been plagued with harmful stereotypes driven by headlines, statistics and stereotypes. Oftentimes, people influenced by these factors make harmful assumptions about our state without taking the time to truly get to know us.

For those of us that call this place home, the truth is obvious—the Mountain State contains some of the most resilient and hard-working people in the nation. West Virginians have had to fight for what we have, and the same grit and determination that built this state is what continues pushing it forward today. Not only are we kind, intelligent and passionate, but we also consist of leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, health care workers, small business owners, creators and innovators that devote their lives to bettering the state with some even taking their services around the globe.

West Virginians care about each other and are always happy to lend a helping hand. We show up when someone needs us and always stand beside each other. We know the grit that runs through our mountains, and we do whatever it takes to lift each other up.

This belief is the center of everything we do at West Virginia Executive magazine. We tell the success stories that deserve to be showcased, the ones that prove that our people are leading industries, growing businesses, strengthening communities and shaping our state. As a state, so much of our accomplishments go unrecognized, and it’s time people see where we truly come from.

West Virginia Executive has been the state's premier business publication since 1998, and telling West Virginia's true story has been humbling and an honor. We will continue to share our state's story and endless achievements.

West Virginia is worth believing in, and the people here are worth paying attention to.

A getaway done right 🌄

Our stay at Valley View Cabin Resort - Canaan Valley was the perfect home base for a weekend in Tucker County 🏡 We spent our days sightseeing around Davis and Thomas, exploring local shops, taking in the mountain scenery and enjoying some great food along the way.

In the evenings, it was back to the cabin for s’mores by the firepit and relaxing in the hot tub. Every cabin felt cozy, unique and thoughtfully put together, which made the whole experience even more relaxing!

This is definitely a spot we’d love to visit again 🤍

Where the Water Sings Through Tucker County, West Virginia

Featuring a few of the most visited spots including Blackwater Falls, Elakala Falls and Douglas Falls, each one carrying its own rhythm and presence.

The sound is just as powerful as the view. That steady rush of water over stone feels like its own kind of song, echoing through the forest and pulling you right into the moment.
