🦄💙💛 A different kind of Finish Line Friday this year… [also sharing with a trigger warning.]
📷 April 15, 2013.
I worked on Boylston street for years and watched the Boston Marathon go right by our store. 2013 was the first time I decided to take the day off to cheer on my friends running the Boston Marathon.
This is the only photo I took that day.
Standing just before the finish line, down a few blocks from my 2nd home, I snapped this pic then decided to head to our store to wait for the rest of the group before heading back to the finish. We never made it back to the finish line.
Minutes after I got to the store, our lives changed forever.
We saw, heard, and felt things no one should ever experience. Especially on a day filled with joy, pride, accomplishment, and love.
⏩ Fast forward 11 years. April 15, 2024.
I’ll be back on Boylston St for the Boston Marathon, except this year, Jimmy, our cousin Jordyn, and I are all running. So many family members and friends will be lining the streets. The streets will be full of love.
And one of the many reasons (more posts to come!) I’m so beyond excited to be putting that bib on is I’m taking back Boylston Street for myself and for everyone who experienced so much that day.
Am I scared? Yes. Am I nervous? Yes. Am I honored? Yes. Am I PUMPED? HELL YES.
We get to do this. We are Boston. LET’S GO!
