A Belmont man was arrested after allegedly stealing from a Walgreens and leading police on a high-speed pursuit that ended in a crash in Charlotte on Wednesday.Travis Eugene Cuthbertson, 35, was taken into custody by the Belmont Police Department following a series of criminal acts that began with a theft at a local Walgreens. Cuthbertson reportedly shattered a glass display case at the store, stealing perfumes and colognes valued at $2,356, before fleeing in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.The incident escalated when Cuthbertson rammed a Belmont Police officer’s vehicle while attempting to escape, prompting a high-speed pursuit into Charlotte. The pursuit ended at the intersection of Old Pineville Road and Archdale Drive, where Cuthbertson collided with two other vehicles before attempting to flee on foot.

The Cookout restaurant chain secured a Mecklenburg County building permit on March 17 for a project named “Taco Roos.” Its address is 9615 N. Tryon St. in the University area. The filing calls for 1,881 square feet of new heated space. It is valued at nearly $1.49 million.

The permit lists the owner as Cook Out Restaurants, with CEO Jeremy Reaves listed as a contact. Cook Out did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A few years ago, Amazon launched the “Alexa, Thank My Driver” program, allowing customers to express gratitude to their delivery drivers.

For every “thank you” received through Alexa-enabled devices, Amazon provided a $5 tip to the respective driver. This initiative aimed to recognize and reward drivers for their dedication and hard work.
Among the top five drivers who received the most “thank yous” was Greylon Anthony, a delivery driver from Charlotte, North Carolina. In acknowledgment of his exceptional service, Amazon awarded him a $10,000 bonus.

Demonstrating remarkable generosity, Anthony chose to donate the entire sum to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. His contribution was intended to support the hospital in purchasing essential medical supplies and providing care for pediatric patients.
