Seagrape , Uva Caleta, Uva playera - Coccoloba uvifera: - Applied externally for rashes and skin afflictions. - Leaf decoction drunk to lower blood sugar. - Decoction of leaves used to treat asthma, hoarseness and to wash wounds. - Astringent roots and bark used in traditional medicine of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The fruit is edible and mostly made into jams. They can be eaten of the tree as well. Apart from their medicinal properties and as a food source, they also aid in protecting coasts from erosion. It is sacred and useful in many places. Esoterically, it is associated with wealth and luck. It has has been used in Orisha and Ayurvedic traditions for many years. Associated with anti-bacterial attributes and anti fungal properties, liver tonic, eye health, cardiac health anti cancer, anti hepatic, gastrointestinal support and so much more. Used usually in decoction of roots and leaves. It is time to really be about taking control of our health. Continuation of the medicine right under your nose theme. Chromolaena odorata Aka-Rompesarsguey/Ewe Tabate. Used in Yoruba and Bantu traditions as an herb to clean away all things negative. This herb has a refreshing and uplifting bouquet. It is traditionally used as a tea, tincture, or herbal bath. Not recommend for people with liver disease. Always consult your health practitioner before using herbs to treat any medical conditions.

Tropical and medicinal herb also used in Afro-Caribbean spiritual tradition. Cordoban - Tradescantia spathacea. It is native to Mexico, and naturalized in locals in the Caribbean, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and other oceanic locations. In traditional herbal medicine it has been used to treat pain, pneumonia, headaches, colds, flu, respiratory infections, stomach issues, as well as externally to heal cuts and ulcers. It is also known as Maguey Morado, Barquilla, Wandering Jew, Purple Heart. This specimen was photographed in St. Thomas, USVI.
