Todayā¦our hearts are shattered. We are mourning not just the loss of a legendary figure in motorsports, but the loss of a man whose courage, compassion and love for community went far beyond the racetrack. Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, along with his beloved wife and children, were tragically killed in a plane crash this morning. The devastation of this news is almost impossible to put into words.
Greg was known by millions as a fierce competitor and 19-race winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, a driver who entertained and inspired fans across the country. But here in Western North Carolina, we knew him for something even deeperā¦his selfless heart and unwavering dedication to helping others.
When Hurricane Helene tore through our communities, leaving destruction in its wake, Greg didnāt hesitate. He used his own helicopter to fly into the hardest hit and most isolated areasā¦delivering food, water, medicine and vital supplies to families cut off by the stormās fury. He didnāt do it for praise or recognitionā¦he did it because he cared. Because he believed in lifting people up when they needed it most.
His efforts werenāt just heroicā¦they were a reminder of the best parts of humanity. Because of Greg, lives were touched, families were helpedā¦and hope was restored at a time when so many felt lost.
Words feel inadequate right now, but to the Biffle familyā¦weāre keepinā yāall in our thoughts and prayers. To Gregās friends, fans and everyone he ever helpedā¦we mourn with you. This loss is profound.
Thank you, Gregā¦for your kindness, your service and your boundless generosity. You made a difference here in Western North Carolinaā¦and you will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Greg Biffle and precious family. We love yāall.
