With a win over the New York Jets, the Carolina Panthers have a winning record for the first time in nearly half a decade.
The Panthers (4-3) beat the Jets 13-6 on a day where defense ruled. Punting was more frequent than scoring as Carolina's lone touchdown drive at the end of the first half proved the difference.
Carolina quarterback Bryce Young left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury. Young did not return to the game. Andy Dalton finished the game under center for the Panthers.
Young wasn't the only quarterback sidelined during the game. The Jets (0-7) benched starting quarterback Justin Fields after a lackluster first half. Tyrod Taylor finished the game for the Jets but did not prove any more effective.
The only touchdown of the game came on a 2-yard pass from Young to Xavier Legette.
The Panthers last held a winning record in October 2021, when the team was 3-2.
