Every once in a while, it feels right to step away from the deadlines and the details and simply remember why you love the work in the first place.
The SPARKlers (not all wanted to hop into the cheesy photo :-) took a play day together and went to see The Devil Wears Prada. It was fun, of course, and yes, the fashion was amazing. But what stayed with me was how much of the movie felt all too familiar in very real ways.
The pressure, the pace, the constant expectation to evolve. It all felt pretty close to home. Publishing has changed so much over the past few years. How stories are created, how they are produced, how they reach the people they are meant to serve. And still, the heart of the work has not changed at all.
We're here to shape ideas into something meaningful. To help people find their voice and use it well. To create books and magazines that move people and support the growth of businesses and legacies.
That's the work we get to do every day at SPARK Publications, and I do not take that lightly.
Sometimes it takes sitting in a theater, watching a story about your own industry, to remind you how much you still love it and how much possibility is still ahead.
If you get a chance, do take an opportunity to see your work from a completely different perspective.
Yes, we even ate the popcorn from the branded promotional products bucket :-)
