A must see film for anyone with a heart!!! Saw it this weekend at Charlotte Film Festival and just loved the adventure that was shown on the screen.

There's a common misconception that filmmaking is all about the camera, the actors, or the director's vision. Lies! It's actually all about the tiny, awkward moment right before the magic happens.

That moment where you're holding the slate (or "clapperboard," if you're feeling fancy) and trying to look professional while simultaneously fighting the urge to sing "The Sound of Music" and click your heels.

You've got one job: announce the scene, the take, and the ever-elusive "Action!" and then BAM! that satisfying thwack. But in reality, it's more like:

"Scene 24... Take 3... Sound speed... Camera rolling... Wait, is this 24-C or 24-D?"

CLICK (The slate slips a little, making a sad, hollow 'thud' instead of a crisp clap.)

"CUT! The sound guy sighed really loudly, so let's reset."

And yet, it is the humble slate that gets us all going. Without it, we're just a bunch of people standing around with expensive toys, staring awkwardly at each other.

To all the 2nd ACs out there—the brave souls who wield the stick—we salute your clappy courage. May your focus be sharp and your slate strikes be crisp!

(What's the funniest thing you've ever heard someone shout out on the slate? Asking for a friend... who is currently forgetting what scene we're on.)

Welcome to Charlotte, Elon!!!

The Charlotte Ledger reporting that Queens University plans to merge with Elon University.

Queens President Jesse Cureton confirmed that both institutions’ boards voted to approve the merger that he described as a “bold vision for the future”.

The Ledger reports that Queens will benefit from the merger by gaining more financial security, while allowing Elon to have a presence in Charlotte.
