Authorities are searching for two inmates who escaped from the Vance County Detention Center in North Carolina.

According to law enforcement, Michael Lewis Miles, Jr. and Lishawn Knott escaped custody and are considered armed and dangerous. The FBI is assisting local authorities in the search and is offering a reward for information leading to their capture.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911, contact their local FBI office, or submit a tip through the FBI. Reward has increased to $40,000

All-white jury selected for the Karmelo Anthony murder trial.

Prosecutors used their peremptory strikes to clear every single qualified Black juror out of that pool. The defense objected, a straight Batson challenge, arguing that race was driving those decisions.

But prosecutors pushed back hard saying every strike was race-neutral. Claimed it came down to media exposure, bias admissions during questioning, or other case-specific issues. Prosecutors even struck some Black female educators along the way.

The judge overruled the objection... and let every one of those strikes stand.

SHELBY, N.C. – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has charged former Shelby Police Officer Karson Hyder with one count of assault inflicting serious injury.

Mr. Hyder, 22, turned himself in to the Cleveland County Detention Center at 10:00 a.m. today. He was processed and released on a $10,000 secured bond.

The SBI initiated this investigation following a request from the Shelby Police Chief and the Cleveland County District Attorney. The investigation examined an allegation of excessive use of force.

No additional information is available at this time.
