With the Charlotte Hornets season coming to an end, rookie guard Kon Knueppel remains a frontrunner for the NBA Rookie of the Year. In a two-man race with Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg, Knueppel could bring Charlotte its fourth Rookie of the Year award in franchise history.

Despite being a high-volume three-point shooter, he was one of the NBA’s most efficient scorers this season. Knueppel’s 62.6% true shooting percentage ranked higher than 81% of NBA players, while his 59.4% effective field goal percentage ranked above 79% of the league.

For a program in its second year of existence, Charlotte women’s lacrosse has already experienced significant change. Coaching and roster turnover, along with stadium construction disrupting practices, have tested the 49ers early, but the group has come together at the right time.

Leading Charlotte on and off the field is a pair of standout attackers in junior Isa Torres and freshman Sophia Rakis, who have helped drive the program’s early success.

In today’s era of college sports, it’s rare to see great players stay in one place. Changes in NIL and the transfer portal have led to frequent roster turnover year in and year out for college programs. But every once in a blue moon, a student-athlete will stay loyal to the university they started with.

In an era of college sports defined by movement, Nolan has stayed a 49er — and made the most of it. Across four years at Charlotte, he’s paired production with leadership and an authentic love for the game and will leave his mark as both a steady presence and a standard for what it means to be a 49er.

Charlotte football opened spring practices on March 24 and March 26, marking the first evaluation period under Head Coach Tim Albin as the 49ers begin preparations for the 2026 season. With a crowded quarterback room entering spring, competition is already one of the program’s biggest storylines.

The quarterback room goes six deep entering the season, returning all but redshirt senior quarterback Zach Wilcke, who transferred to Northwestern State University. During his time at Ohio University, Albin typically kept around five quarterbacks on his roster, making the current structure slightly atypical.
