If Glo Nigeria is useful, what will I be doing with MTN and SPECTRANET that is after my life?
It is with a bitter mind and a confused spirit that I ask this question: why are all indigenous Nigerian products tending to be useless? We have lived more than 66 years as a nation with no indigenous products to be proud of.
I spend 3,000 naira daily on Spectranet every day, and yet I live at the mercy of their useless company. Let me not mention MTN, that exhausts your data even before you subscribe to it. Why? “Because they know that even in our indigenous network provider’s office, there is no network.”
Spectranet sent me an email, telling me the data plan I MUST subscribe to for me to enjoy their network: 4,900 naira daily. “That person that sent that email will never make it in this life and the next 600 lives to come.”
All we are asking is for our indigenous network providers to be responsible, and I will lead the boycott of all these networks that have pocketed the freedom of finance just because they smile better than what we have.
We have lived our lives at the mercy of imports and foreign products, and those who are supposed to champion our interests have been dining at a greedy table and in bed with our oppressors. And someone still wants to prove to me that we are not still practicing indirect rule.
It is a shameful shame not to be shameful for our shameless leaders. NCC, when furnished with shining papers, gives room for us to be punished. 4GB of data finishes in 20 minutes. I couldn’t upload a 500B video with 1GB of data. Spectranet chooses when you should be online or offline because they know a snail is faster than our own networks.
Please, how do you define shame again?
President Trump calling us a country of a particular concern is not just a phrase or hate speech; it is a situation we are aware of. Nigeria has been turned into a factory where you produce but don’t spend the proceeds around its environment.
I don’t know what I did wrong to God for choosing this part of the world on my way to earth. How did we allow corruption to eat this deep into the fabric of our country’s decency and productivity?
Yet, we broom around with hope that this umbrella will shelter us from this heavy rain that has been falling since the ADC days.
God, don’t we deserve peace in this country?
All that makes meaning here belongs to those whose intent is to watch us bleed for it. Poverty is increasing by number, and danger looms. When the poor become so poor that they don’t have anything to eat, they will feed on the rich.
Poverty, deprivation, anger summoned by intimidation, will always create a quest for brutal resistance.
