News Editor Wanted

Womack Publishing Company is seeking a full-time managing editor for its flagship newspaper, the Star-Tribune The ST is one of the largest weekly newspapers in the state of VA, and has also been voted the best weekly paper in the state. This is a great opportunity to spearhead community journalism.
The Star-Tribune posts stories daily online, and weekly in print. Magazines and specialty publications, including Discover Southside, are among the additional publications the Star-Tribune editor is responsible for. Offices are headquartered in the Town of Chatham. Previous editor and/or reporter experience is preferred. Duties and qualifications include overall management of the news content, plus magazines; putting together content and a budget for the print newspaper each week; reporting experience; editing copy; knowledge of AP style; strong news judgment; content gathering; and coordination of both staff and freelancers. Knowledge of content management systems is a plus. Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is desirable, but not required; training can be provided to a willing candidate. The position offers benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, and a competitive salary.
