Dr. Anna J. Cooper is one of the most neglected figures in the history of Pan-Africanism. Cooper, who was born into slavery, became a prominent scholar and was one of the first black women to earn a Ph. D. She was also one of the attendees at the Pan-African Conference in 1900.
