Recently I saw this quote “You don’t need perfection to inspire others,” to me I think about permission.

Permission to begin before you’re ready.
Permission to be seen while you’re still learning.
Permission to show the messy middle — not just the polished end.

Because more often than not, it’s not perfection that inspires us…
it’s watching someone try anyway 🤍

I was born in a small municipality in Tamil Nadu
A place where childhood felt slow and
Where neighbours knew every name, every story.
I lived there till fifteen —a small-town girl who is so shy!

Then came a little bigger town
Faster, louder — a little overwhelming.
But I adjusted, learned, and grew.

From there — to a metro
A city of ambition and endless possibility.
It made me sharper, louder in the best way.

And then one day, I crossed oceans.
A journey of miles, yes —
but truly, a journey of courage.

Today, I look back at that girl from municipality with awe —
she didn’t know where life would take her.

And even today —
I carry that in me !
In my values, my culture, my sarees, my prayer.

Today’s saree is my mom’s that she wore for my wedding !

Happy thanksgiving 🍁!!

My little yearly tradition ❤️🎄
Every year I come back to this same Christmas tree for a photo…
a small ritual that somehow fills my heart with the biggest joy.

This year feels extra special because I brought Amudha with me —
a saree that isn’t just beautiful, but a story of heritage itself.,
Amudha is a revival of the legendary Ayiram Butta —
each butta individually crafted inside precise checks,
every motif aligned with mathematical symmetry,
and the classic korvai borders and pallu woven with devotion.
Thank you Effie and Annie and .a.r.v.a.i for making these masterpieces that brings the craft to life and makes patrons to cherish !

And as I stood here today, with the sparkle of the tree behind me,
I felt nothing but gratitude —
for my family who are my core,
for my customers who trust me and lift me every single day,
for the friends who bring warmth into my life,
and for the good health, energy, and clarity God has blessed me with.

Every day I remind myself how blessed I am to wake up with a positive mindset,
to move forward with intention,
and to do what I love with so much heart.

Counting my blessings today and feeling so grateful!

Growing up, most of us had maybe three or four pavadai sets or dresses for the whole year. Every year as we grew, our parents would simply size up the outfits — adding fabric on the sides, extending the waistband, lowering the tuck — anything to make it last one more year. Tailors were truly our best friends.
And if you were a chubby kid like me? Even more alterations! 😂

Sometimes the extra fabric didn’t even match the original colour — you could clearly see a patch here, a stitch there. Or when we lifted the skirt tuck, you’d see the darker, unwashed colour inside while the outer side had faded lines from years of use. But no one mocked us. No one judged us.
Because everyone wore the same.

It was beautiful in its own way — a reminder of how much we valued things, cared for them, and used them fully.

I wish we could go back to that mindset.
Where repeating, reusing, altering, and cherishing an item for years isn’t something to hide…
But something to celebrate.

Sometimes, the most meaningful things are the ones we wear again and again — until they’ve lived a full life with us. ❤️

This vibrant yellow beauty was my baby shower saree — almost 17 years old, which was sitting in mom’s closet !
Back then, I was at the end of my ninth month… no energy to shop, no mindset to look for something new. I told my mom, “Whatever you have at home is enough… don’t buy anything.”
And from her collection came this saree — a single-side border, soft, light, and so easy to drape on a very pregnant day. Even now, it feels just as effortless.

Some sarees don’t just sit in a wardrobe… they hold memories.
This one carries a little bit of my younger self, a little bit of my motherhood journey, and a lot of my mom’s love.

A nearly 20-year-old treasure, repeated today for Vidhya’s November repeat-kanji theme — and I’m so glad I chose it then, and again now. 💛
