Standing in front of this mural of Dolly Parton today hits a little different. 💔

I’ve been a fan of Dolly since I was a little girl listening to country music. And over the decades, my admiration for her only grew—not just because of her music, but because of who she was.

Dolly always knew exactly who she was. She never apologized for it, never tried to fit into somebody else’s box, and never lost her sense of humor along the way. She loved on people, told it like it was, always had a joke ready, and was a straight shooter.

And let’s talk about the businesswoman in her. Dolly was one of the women in music who showed us you could own your talent, your brand, your business and your story. She built an empire while still being completely herself.

That’s the part of her legacy I admire most: **she knew who she was, she knew what she brought to the table, and she never dimmed herself to make anybody else comfortable.**

Rest well, Dolly. Thank you for showing generations of women that you can be talented, kind, funny, business-minded, glamorous, humble—and still just be YOU. 🤍
