The Hornets move to 2-1 beating the Wizards 139-113 led by LaMelo Ball's monster triple-double with 38 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists.

Miles Bridges added 22 points, while Collin Sexton and rookie Kon Knueppel each scored 20, with Knueppel hitting five threes.

Off the bench, Moussa Diabaté posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Sion James chipped in 13 points, while Tidjane Salaun contributed strong minutes with seven rebounds.

The team shot 51.1% from the field, 39.5% from three, and 83.3% from the line, totaling 52 rebounds, 30 assists, 12 steals, and four blocks.

This is definitely not last year's Hornets.

Lost in the mix of the Panthers’ 40-9 loss to the Bills was the recognition of North Carolina teachers Brandon Day (Cummings High School), Angel Gregory (Northridge Middle School), Avery Pipkin (Cedar Ridge High School), John Ramos (Forestview High School), Haley Winebarger (Pitts School Road Elementary), and Jennifer Scranton, who were honored before halftime today.

Charlotte's Angel Gregory of Northridge Middle School was named Bank of America’s Teacher of the Year, earning $5,000 for her classroom needs. 🍎📚✨

The highlight of today’s game? Mike Tolbert’s 8-yard touchdown run in the ‘Sir Purr Bowl’ at halftime for the 10U Cramerton Panthers against mascots Hugo, Sir Minty, Stormy, Homer, Chubby, Norm the Niner, Wool E. Bull, Lug Nut, and Sir Purr.

Someone tell the Savannah Bananas mascot, Split, to chill. It was already a rough day for the Panthers.

Buffalo might be "Panthers North" but Charlotte definitely looked like "Bills South" today. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Panthers General Manager Dan Morgan inducted into the Miami Hurricanes Ring of Honor. People often forget what a beast he was at Miami. The school's all-time leader in tackles, he is the only player in NCAA history to win the Butkus, Nagursky, and Bednarik Awards in the same season — drafted 11th overall in 2001. 📸: Carolina Panthers

D.J. Burns, the Rock Hill native and former NC State basketball star who transferred from Winthrop to lead the Wolfpack to their first Final Four since 1983, has signed with the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets.

A graduate of York Prep Academy in Rock Hill, Burns played at Winthrop University from 2019 to 2022, where he was named Big South Player of the Year as a junior. He then transferred to NC State, leading the Wolfpack to their 2024 Final Four run while earning ACC Tournament MVP and South Region Most Outstanding Player honors — captivating the nation.

Burns most recently played for the Goyang Sono Skygunners of the Korean Basketball League, where he averaged 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 18.7 minutes per game.

He went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft but appeared in four games for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2024 NBA 2K Summer League.

The Greensboro Swarm tip off their 2024–25 season on November 7 against the Maine Celtics at Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

On her first major headlining tour following a landmark year that saw her win a Grammy for 'Alligator Bites Never Heal,' Doechii delivers a performance that doubles as both a masterclass in hip-hop and theatrical concert performance.

Seamlessly weaving in clever interpolations of classic rap tracks, she transforms the stage into a living extension of her album and music videos — equal parts nostalgic and innovative.

Over the course of a 90-minute set, joined by her DJ Miss Milan and her twin sisters as dancers, Doechii commands the crowd with a mix of charisma, choreography, and lyrical precision.

With props, bold visuals, and a vintage boombox anchoring her stage design, she proves herself not just as one of the best rappers today, but one of music's most dynamic live acts.

The Hornets take down the Brooklyn Nets in the season opener 136-117, in what was a complete team effort, with nine players scoring in double figures.

Brandon Miller led the way with 25 points, while Miles Bridges and rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner put in work on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds apiece.

LaMelo Ball added 20 points and eight assists, and Kon Knueppel contributed 11 points and five rebounds in his NBA debut. Offseason trade acquisition Collin Sexton also added 15 points and three assists off the bench.

Anchored by Kalkbrenner and Moussa Diabaté, with strong efforts from Sexton and James, the Hornets’ defense held the Nets to 44.3% shooting and out-rebounded them 50–38 in an all-around dominant performance.
