The Hornets celebrated their annual Purple and Teal Day at Queens University’s Curry Arena tonight — a rare experience in the Myers Park neighborhood as Spectrum Center wraps up renovations, and the team returns from training camp in Charleston.

The free event for fans was highlighted by team games and the annual rookie dances with songs picked by the vets, including Liam McNeely performing to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” and Ryan Kalkbrenner to Juvenile’s “Slow Motion.”

Head Coach Charles Lee also joined the three-point contest, while Muggsy Bogues and Dell Curry made appearances, as many fans got their first in-person look at the 2025–26 Hornets.

The Hornets face the Thunder (10/9), Mavericks (10/11), Grizzlies (10/15), and Knicks (10/17) to wrap up the preseason, before opening the regular season at home against the Nets on October 22 at the newly renovated Spectrum Center.

No sweeter feeling than a Panthers win!

They take down the Dolphins 27–24, led by a huge game from Asheville native and former Gamecock Rico Dowdle, who rushed for 206 yards on 23 carries — just four yards shy of the Panthers’ single-game record!

The Panthers’ defense also bounced back, giving up just 238 total yards (only 19 rushing), recording a season-high three sacks (Derrick Brown, A’Shawn Robinson, and Patrick Jones).

Tetairoa McMillan had six catches for 73 yards, and Jimmy Horn Jr. hauled in a crucial 4th-and-5 pass for 17 yards late in the fourth quarter in his NFL regular-season debut.

Carolina now moves to 2–3 and will take on the Cowboys at home this Sunday!

Hornets play-by-play announcer Eric Collins will call Sunday’s Panthers game against the Dolphins on Fox — his first regular-season NFL broadcast.

Collins joined the Hornets in 2015, replacing longtime “Voice of the Hornets” Steve Martin. A Cleveland, Ohio, native, he first came to Charlotte in the late ’90s as a Chicago Bulls sideline reporter.

Collins’ emphatic calls have been heard by millions across the globe, and throughout his broadcasting career has covered everything from Olympic baseball to college football, Major League Baseball, and World Cup softball.

He also famously called the 2019 upset of No. 1 seed Duke against unranked Stephen F. Austin State University.

Before arriving in Charlotte, Collins spent two decades in Chicago working with the Bulls and White Sox.

He recently joined Amazon Prime Video’s NBA broadcast team for the 2025-26 season and will call select national NBA games, but Collins and Dell Curry will continue to handle the majority of Hornets games.

Here’s hoping Sunday’s game is an epic high-scoring thriller that ends with a Panthers win.

World-renowned ethologist, conservationist, and humanitarian Jane Goodall has passed away at the age of 91 from natural causes.

Famous for her 65-year study of wild chimpanzees in Gombe, Tanzania, North Carolina's Duke University once housed one of the world’s largest archives of chimpanzee data, containing over 60 years of observations and life histories of more than 200 chimpanzees.

In 2011, Dr. Jane Goodall visited Duke University to inaugurate the Jane Goodall Institute Research Center. During her visit, she delivered a lecture on her research to the campus community.

"Every single one of us makes a difference every single day, and we have a choice… let's learn to live in peace and harmony with each other, but also with the natural world."
