Why am I crying to Avril Lavigne on a random Saturday night?

Because someone said, “listen to it like your kids are singing it to you…” and suddenly the teenage angst turned into motherhood ache.

It’s wild how a song you used to scream in your bedroom hits completely different when you’re the mom in the driver’s seat… hearing those lyrics as if they’re saying:

“I like you the way you are.”

Cue me ugly crying because they’re growing up way too fast and I wasn’t ready to feel all of that tonight.
