🌌 Meet Prof. Michele Dougherty — the first woman to be named Astronomer Royal in the UK’s 350-year history! 👑

On July 30, 2025, she was appointed as royal adviser on astronomy — a historic milestone in a field long dominated by men.

As a planetary physicist, Michele helped discover jets of water v***r erupting from Saturn’s moon Enceladus during NASA’s Cassini mission — a major breakthrough in the search for life beyond Earth. Now, she leads a magnetometer team aboard the JUICE spacecraft, on an eight-year mission to explore Jupiter’s icy moons and search for hidden oceans. 🌊🪐

She’s “absolutely delighted” to share her love of space and help others see that science is for everyone — especially young girls who dream big.

🧪 Meet Dr. Dorothy J. Phillips — the first Black woman to serve as President of the American Chemical Society! 🔬🧬

In 2025, Dr. Phillips made history leading one of the largest scientific organizations in the world — nearly 60 years after becoming the first Black woman to earn an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University (Class of ’67). She later earned her Ph.D. in chemistry and built a 29-year career advancing analytical science.

Now, she’s focused on inclusion, equity, and career access — especially for young people who may not see traditional college as an option. “My goal is to be a catalyst for aspiring scientists,” she says. ✨

From desegregation-era Tennessee to the top of the chemistry world, Dr. Phillips is proof that representation changes everything.

🚀 Meet Amanda Nguyễn — the first Vietnamese woman in space and a bioastronautics researcher paving the way for future space missions. 🌌🔬

On April 14, 2025, Amanda flew aboard Blue Origin’s suborbital mission, conducting vital research on how low gravity affects plant growth and women’s health. She partnered with the Vietnamese National Space Center and University of Wisconsin–Madison to study Brassica rapa seeds — work that could help astronauts grow food during long-term missions and fight food insecurity here on Earth. 🌱🧬

Amanda’s journey is deeply personal — her mother was a boat refugee who once navigated by starlight. Now Amanda studies the stars to expand what’s possible for science, survival, and Southeast Asian representation in space. 💫
