Eli Weinger, Vice President of Students for Equity and Reform in Virginia, clashed with a police officer and school administration after being told he could not stand on the steps to speak. Public outrage has grown amongst UVA students and faculty, as the Board of Visitors continues its negotiations with the Department of Justice, and its search for a permanent president.

Eli was addressing the crowd outside of the Board of Visitors meeting who were lined up for public comment––a somewhat rare opportunity. The public comment was first come first serve, as space allowed.

There were only five seats inside.

The Labor Day ‘Teach-In’ criticized federal overreach into higher education, decried the dissolution of DEI, and condemned the board of visitors for excluding the faculty during the search for an interim president.

In a moving ceremony at the historic Monticello, 74 new American citizens were naturalized. Following remarks from Monticello’s President and CEO, Dr. Jane Kamensky, and keynote speaker Ken Burns, citizens shared their thoughts on what being an American means to them and recounted inspiring stories of immigration to the United States.

On February 17th, Payton Cormier scored the 166th goal of his career to pass Doug Knight to become the all-time leading goal scorer in UVA Men’s Lacrosse history. With the record now broken, Cormier can continue to extend the mark in his final season while chasing his third National Championship in the orange and blue.
