We both loooooove podcasts.

I (Ayliś) am almost always listening to one podcast or another. And when you've been listening to a podcast for years, it really does feel like you know the hosts and get to catch up with them every time they release a new episode!

(We hope that's how you feel when you listen to Sippin' Safari too!)

Here are each of our top five podcasts (in no particular order because even just narrowing down the list to a top five was HARD)

Ayliś:
-Stuff You Should Know (I've been an avid listener almost since the beginning and I have listened to each episode many, many times, it's my go-to comfort show)

- Stuff They Don't Want You To Know

-Crime Weekly

-Behind the Bastards

-Good Job Brain

Caleb:
-Behind the Bastards (Caleb has been listening to this one since it started and has created many Robert Evans fans over the years 😂)

-It Could Happen Here

-Office Ladies

-Serial Killers

-All Creatures

A genuine "thank you" to these amazing creators. We truly enjoy the time, effort, and passion you put into your work and we listen religiously.

There are MANY more podcasts deserving of shout outs so we'll probably do follow ups to this but go check out all of these pods if you haven't heard them yet!

Do we have any of the same favorites as you? What are some of your favorites that we need to check out? I'm always looking for new content to listen to!

Happy Halloween!

This is the perfect day to share this near death experience that we got to watch unfold while we were visiting back in August!

This juvenile green vine snake could sense that there was a frog nearby and was swimming/slithering RIGHT OVER a frog for about 20 minutes. The frog stayed perfectly still the whole time and just let the young snake search without any progress. It was so cool to watch an offense vs defense form of survival playbout in real time and the defensive strategy ended up winning! The snake gave up and the frog hopped away. Lucky day for the frog!

I love this picture that our guide was able to capture through his monocular that shows just how close our frog friend came to being prey that day.

Have you ever witnessed something like this? Nature is awesome.

Did we get our color scheme from our front door?
.. Mayyyyybeeeeee.

But you have to admit, it nicely contrasts with our guard-frog. And really, that's all that matters.

Happy everyone! Swipe to see one of the sloths we got to see in . We got to see so many! They're tricky to find but nature guides are amazing at spotting them.

Fun fact: three-toed sloths are related to a giant sloth called Megatherium that were around 10,000 years ago. These giant cousins were the size of elephants! I can't even fathom a sloth that size!

Have you seen a sloth in person? How do you feel about elephant-sized sloths?

Even our headphones match our color scheme because #aesthetic

Our recording room is purple though. Not much we can do about that.

Any guesses which room in our house we use as our recording studio? 🤔

Swipe to see what Caleb described as "... The prettiest feet in the bird world" in our latest episode ( #007)!

Do you agree? I (Ayliś) am thoroughly creeped out by these feet. I'm not even sure why, but they make me VERY uneasy.

Do you know who these (debatably) beautiful feet belong to?

It's feeling like faaallllllll (finally)

We live in the south and while the highs for the week are still in the mid to high 70's, the mornings and evenings are *chef's kiss* perfect.

How's the weather wherever you are?

Today is World Mental Health Day.

Talking about mental health is such a loaded thing sometimes. It makes me feel helpless and angry and frustrated and sad. And I just wanted to take this space to let you know that however this day or this subject makes you feel, it's valid.

Saying "I'm always here for you, just let me know" is helpful to a point.
Sharing the number for the su***de hotline is helpful to a point.
Sending virtual hugs is helpful to a point.
But when you're in a hard place, those things don't feel like much.
I've been there.

At least in the US, what is really needed is total Healthcare reform so that mental health services are *actually* accessible. We have what is widely recognized as really good insurance but a co-pay for a single therapy session is still at least $30 (most of the time, more). Multiply that by once a week for 2 people, that's a lot of money each month. Money that we honestly don't have right now. Therapy is really important and so worth it if you can afford it but the truth is that many can't. Even with insurance. Even with a well-paying job. So make sure you consider that when you tell people to prioritize mental health. It's not that easy. Also remember that when you vote.

So anyways. On this world mental health day, I challenge you to *really* reach out to some people today. It might be uncomfortable or awkward. They may not respond exactly how you think they might. But it can really mean a lot to receive a $5 gift card for a coffee or an encouraging note detailing all the great things about you or a text saying that there are cookies waiting for you on your porch.

Everyone has something going on whether they let other people know it or not. So don't wait for people to come to you, they might not. Take the first step and do good. And if you are one of those people in a hard place, try to reach out. It can be really hard and I know that, but it's a lot less hard to go through hard things with another person beside you.

Just a 13-year-old kitten enjoying the day while listening to the episode that just dropped because she loves just as much as we do (probably more tbh, she's pretty obsessed with him)

This episode is kitty approved so don't wait another meow-ment to go check it out!
