Someone recently took a photo of one of my models, shared from my private Facebook group, and dragged her in public comments.

And I’ll be real with y’all - it made me question if I even wanted to keep this studio open.

But here’s the TRUTH:
That kind of behavior says everything about them and nothing about her.

Let me be crystal clear:

SECOND BEST | That phrase has haunted me for years.

This photo was taken in 2021 in a borrowed space I desperately wanted to make my own. My friend was getting ready to move out, and I wanted to move in…
But I wasn’t what the tenant wanted. I was told that first dibs was going to someone else... but I would be “second” in line.

Since then, I’ve watched others rise in rooms I once begged to enter. I’ve been the runner-up. The finalist. The almost. I’ve been invited in, pushed out, published... but when it came time for the real love, the real light, the real legacy... I was overlooked.

My name wasn’t the one that came up first. And somehow, even though I feel like I’m meant for greatness, second place kept finding me.

When I saw this image again last week, it hit me like a wave. Not because I haven’t grown -
I have. I can literally SEE how much I’ve grown. This past version of me feels like a distant memory… and yet, she’s only four years removed from who I am now.

But real talk? I’m tired. I have energy aplenty... but I’m tired of being passed over, let go of, looked past, and looked beyond. Tired of falling just short of first place. And I KNOW I’m not the only woman who feels that.

So I said f*ck it - we’re doing these again. And not for me. This time it’s for you.

RECLAIMED isn’t just about healing. It’s about naming the parts of your story that still ache. The words that still sting. The lies that still whisper. And replacing them with the ones that give life.

And even if you don’t know what those life-giving words are just yet… Meet me at the studio. I’ll have some ready for you.

Because sometimes, it takes someone seeing you outside of yourself to feel truly seen.

Think this won’t change your life?

It may... it may not...
But let me tell you what happened when I did this photo session for myself.

I thought I was just taking photos.
But this? This cracked me wide open.

After this session, I started getting tattoos to remind myself of who I really am.
One of the first? My Pa’s handwriting on my left forearm.
And just yesterday—I got another one.

Since then, I’ve lost nearly 50 pounds—not for vanity, but for my mental clarity, physical health, and emotional peace.
I’ve reclaimed things I didn’t even realize I had abandoned.
And now? It’s time to do this again.

These photos are only four years old, but sometimes I barely recognize the girl in them.
And yet—wow.
What a difference four years makes.
And wow, how proud I am of her.
She got me from there to here.
I love her for that.

This was the very first RECLAIMED session.
No fancy lights. No styled setup. Just me, a marker, and my friend Bre meeting me to shoot this concept. (And I hope she doesn’t mind that I totally hijacked it and made it my own.)
