Recreational anglers have been limited to one- and two-day South Atlantic red snapper seasons, while commercial harvest has continued for weeks or even months.

ASA and a coalition of leading sportfishing organizations are supporting the South Atlantic Red Snapper Fair Access Act of 2026, introduced by Rep. Austin Scott,, to ensure conservation measures are applied fairly when recreational anglers are prohibited from harvesting this public resource.
