So, Crunchy Mamas, I had noticed a new clinic in North Shore, and I stopped in to chat with the doctor yesterday. He is trained as an OB/GYN but has come over to the holistic side. While he doesn't do family practice, he does all kinds of wonderful things like hormone balancing, gut analysis and diet therapy and he sounds like a refreshing option if you happen to have some things going on:

Family Picnic at Riverpoint Access on Riverwalk this Thursday BYOP 6 pm. Sat morn Parents Only meet at the North Shore of walking bridge for a walk to free yoga on the aquarium plaza. If your kids (and you) like to swing...we've determined the best swings are at Riverview Park on Barton Ave. They are really long chains and the old style frames that allow for a really wide swing. Go check them out for some good old fashioned high swinging!

Hi, folks! Summer is such a fun time to have adventures and learn new things that you've always wanted to try! Folks of all ages - from 2 to 92 - are invited to come out and try their hands (ha! You see what I did there????) with a 6-week Sign Language Basics class.
Classes will be held at 1400 W 53rd Street in St. Elmo, June 9 - July 15.
Choose either:
Tuesday 10:30 - 11:30
Wednesday 10:30 - 11:30
Cost will be $60 for the full session. For siblings, the Family Discount Rate is $50 per child.

Where Learning is Fun and Friendships are Made

I wanted to share another great opportunity for summer fun!

TAG Families is scheduling Field Trips on Thursdays this summer, starting the first week of June! These tripe are open to anyone, and certainly to family groups who are looking for activities to fill the long, hot days.

Events are consistently planned for 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Feel free to bring a sack lunch and hang out with the group after the activity.

So far, the schedule is as follows:

I am restarting a group we had going ages ago... Chattanooga Moms Get Fit. It is a secret fitness/nutrition FB group. My plan is to have daily and weekly check ins to help motivate and keep people accountable for their fitness/nutrition goals. I've been doing an online challenge this week and it's really been the boost I needed to get going with better choices and more exercise. WE can provide each other encouragement, suggestions, share what works or didn't work for us, etc. Comment here or send me a pm if you would like to be added. (Sara Breese Apgar)

We waited out the rain in the barn, but baby goats made that ok ;) With clear skies we splashed in the creek, caught and released a variety of critters, weeded our garden, and ended with a picnic lunch. Our next garden meetup will be Monday June 8th. Make plans to join us!

TAG Homeschool is offering Spanish classes to the community at large in St. Elmo this summer! Teacher and returned Peace Corps Volunteer Rebecca Westbrook Toker will be teaching classes at 1400 W 53rd in St. Elmo starting June 2.


TUESDAY:
9:00 - 9:30 Toddlers/PreK
9:30 - 10:30 Elementary
10:30 - 11:30 Middle School

WEDNESDAY:

9:00 - 9:30 Toddlers/PreK
9:30 - 10:30 Elementary
10:30 - 11:30 High School

Classes will run from June 2 - July 15 (6 weeks of instruction plus a field trip). Cost of enrollment is $75. For siblings, we offer a Family Discount and the price is $50 per child.
PreK and Elementary students will be taught using the Sonrisas Spanish Cultural Curriculum, which is based in Waldorf methodology and therefore uses Spanish for a minimum of 90% of classroom interactions. "Natural Approach" and "Total Physical Response" methodologies combine to engage students with repetition, movements, songs, poems, chants and children's literature. Middle School and High School students will be taught a "Conversation Basics" class, which will be a dynamic, interactive class that will give students the beginnings of Spanish conversation and will culminate in a field trip to a local Mexican grocery store, where we will take a tour and then purchase ingredients to make food - all in Spanish (to the best of their ability).
