If we can make it to 100 degrees today (9/3/26) it would meet the record set in 1954! Do you think we will hit it?

Happy Thursday to the Tennessee Valley! We are waking up to some cool but extremely humid weather conditions this morning. Your morning commute will be clear, save for some patchy fog.

The afternoon will feature another hotter-than-average day. We will be on record temperature watch once again. Yesterday, we reached the record high of 100 degrees, set back in 2011. Today, we will challenge the 100-degree record set in 1954. If we make it to 100 degrees today, it will be the 4th 100-degree day of 2026 so far.

Isolated showers will be possible for very few today. Heat index values will soar between 100 and 110 degrees depending on your location. Tonight will feature calm, muggy conditions. Expect temps to range in the upper-to-mid 90s through the weekend. Temps will drop into the lower 90s to kick off the start of next week.

A few scattered showers will be possible through the afternoons this weekend, but the majority won’t see a drop of rainfall. Meteorologist Hannah Skye

A bittersweet update ❤️

I’m sharing this now because I want my loyal viewers to hear it from me. ❤️ If you can, please share this post so everyone who watches me regularly knows about the change before my last day.

I started at Local 3 as an intern back in 2023, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be where I am today. The last two years have given me more than I could have imagined. Incredible experiences, so much growth, and most importantly, the opportunity to earn your trust and serve the Tennessee Valley.

We also want to make sure Kinley and the Storm Alert Weather Team have the smoothest transition possible, and I know you’re going to love her!

I still have a few weeks left at Three, and I plan to savor every minute. My last day on air will be September 25th, and I truly hope you’ll join me. 🥹❤️

Thank you for allowing me into your homes and for supporting me every step of the way. I am so, so grateful.

I can’t wait to hit false fall, but that won’t be likely for at least the next two weeks.

We could meet and possibly break record temps if we hit over 100 degrees today (9/2) and tomorrow (9/3).

Heat stress and heat related illness will be more of a concern for those active during the hottest parts of the day this week. Feels-like temps/heat indices will range from 100 to 110 degrees. Use caution! ⚠️

Today is 9/2/26. Today and tomorrow, heat stress will be a concern due to heat index values ranging from 100 to 110 degrees.

Here is a look at the wet bulb heat stress index.

The WetBulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is a measure of the heat stress in direct sunlight, which takes into account: temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover (solar radiation). This differs from the heat index, which takes into consideration temperature and humidity and is calculated for shady areas. If you work or exercise in direct sunlight, this is a good element to monitor. Military agencies, OSHA and many nations use the WBGT as a guide to managing workload in direct sunlight-NWS
