SLD is happy to co-host with The Shutter Brothers from for the 4th Annual Photowalk! You are invited to join and as they go back to nature photography on Saturday, October 25, at Old Stone Fort State Archeological Park near Manchester, Tennessee. Any camera, film or digital, is welcome. Happy Photography!

November 1st is a special day - it's both Day of the Dead and our GRAND RE-OPENING PARTY! 🥹 We're super excited to unveil the huge upgrades we've made at SLD, aimed at creating a better space for Chattanooga's film community. Our members' work will be showcased in our gallery, and you can explore open studios by our talented studio mates, and Cisto Tattoo. Plus, will be serving up tasty food, and will be mixing specialty cocktails for the after-party! This event is free, but we appreciate donations to support future improvements. Thanks for trusting us with your film over the years - we love you all! 🖤 Tori & the Safelight team.

November 1st is not only Day of the Dead but it’s also OUR GRAND RE-OPENING PARTY! This is a huge upgrade for SLD and we are so excited to share what we’ve been working on in hopes to provide a better space for the film community in Chattanooga. We will have our member’s work featured upstairs in our gallery space, along with open studios from our amazing studio mates, and Cisto Tattoo! Not to mention, food truck will be on site grilling up some delicious eats AND will be whipping up specialty cocktails for your after party spot!

This event is free but we will be taking donations that will go directly towards more future improvements for SLD. Thank you all for trusting us with your precious film over the years 🥹 Love you all!

Noogapan 400 is our 35mm b&w film and is available for purchase at 3 locations in Chattanooga. Its traditional grain and strong contrast make it a great choice for street photography. We recommend shooting it at ISO 200. You get 36 exposures for only $6.99, and you can develop it yourself or bring it to Safelight District for development and scanning. Won’t be this cheap for long so get some film for your camera today!

Join us on September 28th at 11am for a Lith Printing Workshop!

This event is hosted at Safelight District Darkroom and taught by , a Chattanooga based photographer and art educator. This event includes a demo (roughly 2 hours), directly followed by a workshop (roughly 2 hours) where you’ll be able to create your own print!

This workshop/demo costs $15 per person to cover the cost of materials. Payment will be taken at the event (Cashapp, PayPal, Venmo, or cash). Students must bring a negative they want to print!
