Morning Listening: Spinning Keller and the Keels this morning on the heels of last weekend's World of Bluegrass festival. If you want to see this great band, they will be featured at 3 Sisters Festival first weekend in October. This band will be my highlight of the 3 Sisters weekend and maybe yours too.

Started the day off with a little Marshall Tucker. Love this tune and they play it beautifully in this live version. If you've ever wondered where the name came from it's from a keychain they found in a rehearsal space in Spartanburg, SC. Marshall Tucker was inscribed in the keychain. Marshall Tucker was a piano tuner who apparently lost it in the studio space.
I've been in bands where we spent weeks trying to come up with a great band name, which looking back is a dumb thing to do. These guys were smart with it. Rock on yall.

Not in the studio today but the music still kicks off my day. Started with this one from my favorite guitar player, Joe Satriani. Joe is not only the pinnacle of 6-string mastery but he's also a thoughtful songwriter, writing great chord progression and melody. For all you shredders out there aspiring to make it, shredding won't be enough. You must be able to write chord progression and melody and be able to work with people. Few musicians exemplify this more than Joe. Thanks Joe and keep on rockin' bro!
