Sirenize (SAHY-ruh-nahyz)

- To act as or use the enticements of a siren; to bewitch, allure, enchant or fascinate.
- To allure, esp by melodious singing.

From “Siren” (a sea nymph who by her singing lures sailors to their destruction) from French “sirène” from Old French “sereine” from Late Latin “Sirena” from Latin “Siren” from Greek “Seiren” (one of the Seirenes, mythical sisters who enticed sailors to their deaths with their songs) and also (a deceitful woman, a binder, entangler) from “seira" (cord or rope)
