In the News - Tinubu Forwards Names of Service Chiefs to the Senate for Confirmation

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of the newly-appointed service chiefs to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation.

He conveyed his request in a letter he sent to the Senate President, HE Godswill Obot Akpabio Akpabio, and read to the lawmakers on the floor in Abuja.

The letter was referred to the Committee of the Whole for commencement of screening and possibly confirmation on Wednesday 29th October, 2025

The names forwarded were: Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye.
