We are thrilled to announce the launch of EWU's new Office of Community Engagement! 🦅

The core mission of this office is to create a culture of civic responsibility by connecting our students with meaningful volunteer and service opportunities, starting right here in our hometown of Cheney.

From community service projects to the Aspire Program—where EWU students mentor local high schoolers—we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the Inland Northwest while providing invaluable real-world experience for our students.

Want to learn more about getting involved? The Office of Community Engagement invites all students, faculty, staff, and community partners to an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 4-6 p.m. in Showalter Hall.

We are excited to announce a new program designed to support the dedicated law enforcement officers who serve and protect our communities!

Launching in Fall 2026, our new Bachelor's in Law Enforcement Leadership & Practice is a fully online program, making it accessible for working officers, including those in rural communities, to advance their careers on their own schedule.

As Dean Osman Özturgut says, the goal is to help officers “strengthen their leadership skills, advance their careers, and better serve the public.” The curriculum was created with input from local law enforcement and will be taught by experienced leaders, ensuring it meets real-world needs. We are proud to offer this pathway for professional growth to our region's officers.
