Anderson Corporation has announced the acquisition of Bright Wood Corporation, a window and patio door component manufacturer in Madras.

The Jefferson County Faith-Based Network, a nonprofit focused on helping people experiencing homelessness and addiction, opened two new transitional homes on Nov. 13 — one for single men and the other for women and children.

The Jefferson County Community and Senior Center will have a Christmas Dinner for veterans and first responders at noon on Dec. 8. The event is designed to “honor our veterans and first responders and give thanks to our amazing community for your continued support this past year,” said Krista Acevedo, director of the center.

The Madras Performing Arts Center is set to offer a festive show just in time for the Christmas season. The ninth annual Holiday Gala will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13, featuring holiday-themed music and dances in a variety show format.

Employees of Jefferson County Public Health will be helping facilitate the event, and some of them are bilingual. Kepa’a said this helps them serve everyone who comes. “We have a lot of bilingual staff here who are very helpful when it comes time to serve, and also just sitting and conversing with them,” said Kepa’a. “We as staff go out and sit with them and see how they’re doing and make sure it’s a welcoming environment.”

Central Oregon’s counties have company atop the list of fastest-growing counties in the state. According to the Preliminary Portland State University Population Research Center Population Estimates Report for 2025, Jefferson County grew by 137 people, to 25,768 from July 2024 to July 2025, a .53% growth rate.

Residents in southeast Madras can look forward to a new park in the area soon. Madras City Council recently voted to approve the construction of Hoffman Park. Current plans for the park include an extension of the existing road and parking lot in the area, new walking trails and concrete sidewalks, a picnic area, restrooms, full landscaping, outdoor lighting and the city’s first pump track for bikes.
