Engineers have specialties.

Not every engineer is the right fit for every genre: and that’s okay.

A metal mix engineer and a folk mix engineer may hear the same song very differently. Their references, instincts, and production choices are shaped by the music they know and genuinely enjoy working with.

Before you book a recording or mixing engineer:

• Ask about their experience with your genre.
• Listen to their past work.
• Make sure they understand what you’re going for.

The goal isn’t to find an engineer who claims to do everything. Find someone who understands the style you’re making and knows how to help it land.

The right fit matters.

Blending the U 87 with the 201 for John’s vocals. Both going through a Neve 1073 and followed up with a pair of distressors. Great vocal sound and performer. Fun day

A packed room usually starts weeks before show night: not with one last-minute post.

1. Build a real contact list. Collect names and emails from people who actually come to shows.

2. Cross-promote and trade bills. Combine audiences with bands that share your energy and help fill each other’s rooms.

3. Give people a reason to arrive early. Make the opener, giveaway, merch drop, or first set worth catching.

4. Push hardest in the final 48 hours. Send personal texts, post stories, and invite people directly. Then repeat.

5. Make the venue’s job easy. Provide clean artwork, accurate details, and one clear ticket link.

6. Show up for other bands. The local scene grows when you participate in it: not just when you need a crowd.

Stop waiting for the algorithm to do the work. Build relationships, make a plan, and bring people with you.
