Chester City Help, Incident, and Resource Page

Chester City Help, Incident, and Resource Page Keeping Chester informed about what is going on in the neighborhood, one post at a time! They cover what the news doesn't.
(1)

Influenced by Birdeye View News and BEV2, the Chester CHIRP (formerly the Chester City Incident Blog) has been developed in order to keep the citizens of Chester informed of what is going on around them. From "what are those sirens about?" to "I found a dog, what do I do?" to "I need a job, can you help?", you can find all of the information right here in one place, just by clicking the Chester CH

IRP. Starting in March of 2017, founders Wydeen and Jayci decided that it was finally time to merge together and create the blog. With many citizens of the city depending on select individuals to keep them updated on the latest happenings in the city, the Chester CHIRP was created to keep everything in one compact place. They also noticed that citizens were coming to them more, instead of mainstream media, because of their commitment and connections with the city, and because of their ability to cover a story more effectively, more raw, and more unadulterated than the media due to those connections. While Wydeen has taken a bit of a step back, Jayci has taken on the full time responsibility of bringing you all of the information you are looking for. With the help of the citizens of Chester, they hope to bring you the most updated information on what is going on in the city. Please feel free to send a message (not post on the blog wall, as those posts sometimes get lost) with any questions, or if you notice any first responder/police activity. You can also call the CHIRPLine at ANY time - (267)636-0525. They will do their best to accommodate all questions and concerns in a timely manner. Expect pictures and first hand coverage from your founders, as well as picture credits from various other outlets. As of October 1st, 2020, the CCIB has been rebranded to be the Chester CHIRP! Or Chester City Help, Incident, and Resource Page, to reflect a much broader opportunity to get all the information you need in one place.

**DISCLAIMER - The Chester CHIRP work closely alongside, but are not an entity of or affiliated with, Chester City Government, the Chester Police Department, or the City of Chester Fire Department. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.

Please be mindful - there are still road hazards out here! Somebody decided to move the cones and now they're just going to block the street entirely. There's an additional wires fire at 291 and Central so stop signs are going out at Flower. This storm was truly crazy!

Chef Lamont's home and outdoor work area sustained some serious damage in last night's storm. I stopped by this morning just to check in on him, and as I was walking out the door, Aaron Baskerville from Channel 10 was walking up the porch steps!

The tree damaged a total of 4 homes.

Storm Damage Pictures 6/22/26 Chester City

It seems as though most of our storm damage was concentrated between Pusey and Booth, Concord down to 291.

There are still more reports of storm damage coming in as we speak so I didn't get everything, but it's interesting to see the differences in damage based on location. The west side of the city had widespread storm damage, while the east side of the city barely had anything.

Edit 7:44pm - I lied. I underestimated how much damage I was going to encounter. Gonna edit all these pics and post them in a different thread!

Storm damage photos will be in this thread - starting out with the tree down on both the 900 block of Lloyd and the tree down on 9th between Lloyd and Pennell.

All right ladies and gents, according to radio traffic, 291 is flooding and we also have multiple trees down on 291 blocking the roadway between approximately Lloyd and Flower Streets. Please use caution in the area!

Edit to add - please post your hazardous conditions in the comments!

The first casualty of the first round of storms/heavy rain for the day 🤣🤣

No but for real, we're expected to get some nasty weather this afternoon into this evening. And we would actually be better off if the sun was cloud covered right now - but it's not. So will we remain in the bubble again? Only time will tell.

I'll be back later on with any reports of flooding, downed trees, wires, etc - we've made it through fairly unscathed the last few times around... today may be different 🤷

Road closure!! 9th Street Bridge into Eddystone is 100% closed today due to road work!
