Chester City Help, Incident, and Resource Page

Chester City Help, Incident, and Resource Page Keeping Chester informed about what is going on in the neighborhood, one post at a time! They cover what the news doesn't.
(1)

Influenced by Birdeye View News and BEV2, the Chester CHIRP (formerly the Chester City Incident Blog) has been developed in order to keep the citizens of Chester informed of what is going on around them. From "what are those sirens about?" to "I found a dog, what do I do?" to "I need a job, can you help?", you can find all of the information right here in one place, just by clicking the Chester CH

IRP. Starting in March of 2017, founders Wydeen and Jayci decided that it was finally time to merge together and create the blog. With many citizens of the city depending on select individuals to keep them updated on the latest happenings in the city, the Chester CHIRP was created to keep everything in one compact place. They also noticed that citizens were coming to them more, instead of mainstream media, because of their commitment and connections with the city, and because of their ability to cover a story more effectively, more raw, and more unadulterated than the media due to those connections. While Wydeen has taken a bit of a step back, Jayci has taken on the full time responsibility of bringing you all of the information you are looking for. With the help of the citizens of Chester, they hope to bring you the most updated information on what is going on in the city. Please feel free to send a message (not post on the blog wall, as those posts sometimes get lost) with any questions, or if you notice any first responder/police activity. You can also call the CHIRPLine at ANY time - (267)636-0525. They will do their best to accommodate all questions and concerns in a timely manner. Expect pictures and first hand coverage from your founders, as well as picture credits from various other outlets. As of October 1st, 2020, the CCIB has been rebranded to be the Chester CHIRP! Or Chester City Help, Incident, and Resource Page, to reflect a much broader opportunity to get all the information you need in one place.

**DISCLAIMER - The Chester CHIRP work closely alongside, but are not an entity of or affiliated with, Chester City Government, the Chester Police Department, or the City of Chester Fire Department. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.

I've re-written this post about 20 times already because I'm struggling to find the right words, when I know there really are none. And I think I'm only smushing all of these thoughts together because I don't know when I'll be back on here.

By now, most of you have seen the posts and the news reports. My phone has been buzzing for hours... but as a community page, I learned that I can't always have that "mainstream media mentality" for an area that seems so big, yet is so small and tightly knit at the same time. It wasn't my place to go public with what I heard, saw, speculated, or otherwise, while it was happening. (And no, this is not a stab at Jermir, I don't want y'all to think that way if you saw his post earlier - both of us are constantly adjusting the way we exhibit our information... there's always a learning curve.)

But, with that being said, I want to send my most sincere condolences out to Kortney's family. We pray for your strength, your resilience, and your patience... because even though a part of the puzzle was solved, we know you're still trying to piece together the rest.

And while I regularly tell grieving families to reach out if they need anything, I know I am limited as to what I can add to my plate - so I need you all, our community, to embrace and support this family as you have so relentlessly this last month. Their journey is far from over 💔

You can stop reading here if you want, the rest of this post is just my own personal frustration, even though it kind of ties in with why I didn't post sooner.

While I've worked directly with families and with CPD on many cases involving missing family members, I was never directly involved in actively posting and searching for Kortney the way that most of you are used to seeing from me due to my own personal mental exhaustion, and other than sharing a single post a few weeks ago - and it's an awful feeling only being able to pray for the best from the sidelines and wondering if I could have somehow figured out a way to do more. While it doesn't help now, I have a bit of research to do... and hopefully I can play a bigger part of making a serious change for the future.

Another day, another 😢

I received a message this morning about this sweet girl... it's pretty simple to assume that she was struck by a vehicle on 95 or on the off ramp.

She's young and had definitely been laying there for a day or two... but now she's with us to make her final transition over the rainbow bridge.

We're calling her "Nancy" ❤️ *CREMATION COST HAS BEEN COVERED, THANK YOU!*

If you think this may be your dog and would like confirmation or to claim remains, you have until Wednesday before she is cremated. I do have closer up pictures available.

***URGENT PUPDATE***

Being as though we didn't have any place for him to go, we struggled with finding a legitimate solution to the problem. However, while we were in that process, he was allegedly taken by somebody else and now we have to start the process over again.

He has an owner, we identified the owner. The owner would like his dog back.

UPDATE - we were told somebody may have taken him on the 109 but haven't been able to confirm.

Imagine if we had somewhere we could safely hold dogs even just for a few hours 👀

Is anybody missing this handsome hunk? Apparently he's been out since about Tuesday, but we can't take him in without a foster. He's super friendly, hasn't shown any signs of aggression, but is currently being bounced around and could use a safe landing place. Please contact Joyner's Furr-eedom Rescue INC to fill out a foster application.
