LADY WARRIORS ADVANCE TO CONS. BRACKET SEMIS

Sydney Hood led four players in double figures with 21 points, and Steeleville advanced to the semifinals of the Lebanon/Wesclin Christmas Tournament consolation bracket with a 63-50 win over Sparta today.
Lexi Middendorf added 13 points, Karley Kothe contributed 12 and Mackenzie Pim chipped in 11 for the Lady Warriors (9-4), who trailed 23-22 at halftime but outscored the Lady Bulldogs 41-27 in the second half.
Steeleville moves on to face Wesclin at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.

STEELEVILLE FALLS IN HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT

Braden Webb scored a game-high 22 points to lead three players in double figures, and Goreville gradually pulled away from Steeleville in the second half of a 74-61 win over the Warriors in today's quarterfinals of the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament.
Steeleville (6-6) was led by a game-high 25 points by Owen Gross, while Austin Hagel and Brad Mevert each added nine for the Warriors.
Steeleville will face Chester (8-4), which fell to Christopher, 58-53, earlier today, in the semifinals of the 5th place bracket at noon tomorrow.
The winner will play in the 5th place game at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The loser is eliminated.

LADY WARRIORS FALL AT CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

LEBANON -- Molly Novack scored 11 points to lead all scorers, and Piasa Southwestern outscored Steeleville 17-7 in the second quarter on Tuesday to beat the Lady Warriors in the first round of the Lebanon/Wesclin Christmas Tournament.
Mackenzie Pim led Steeleville (8-4) with nine points, while Karley Kothe added eight and Lexi Middendorf contributed 7. Steeleville held a 9-5 lead after the first quarter, but went to the locker room at halftime trailing 22-16.
The Lady Warriors will face Sparta, which lost 48-19 to tournament top seed Lebanon on Tuesday, at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow in an elimination game.

STEELEVILLE BEATS CENTURY

The Steeleville boys basketball team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament with a 75-43 win over Century today.
Owen Gross scored 20 points to lead three players in double figures for the Warriors (6-5), who broke open a close game with a 22-12 second quarter to take a 41-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Nick Ebers added 14 points and Noah Valleroy contributed 10 for Steeleville, which moves on to face Goreville at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow.
