We are reaching out to the community for assistance in locating a missing teenager, Jonah Seago Finkelstein. Every moment counts, and we need your eyes and ears to bring him home safely.

- Missing Since: October 16, 2025
- Location: Fairfax County, VA
- Current Age: 17 Years Old
- Gender: Male
- Distinctive Feature: Jonah has a scar above his right eye.

The reason for our urgent plea is simple: Jonah's family and friends are deeply worried about his well-being. He is loved and missed dearly, and every second that passes without him is filled with heartache.

If you have any information regarding Jonah's whereabouts, please contact the Fairfax County Police Department at 703-691-2233. Your help could make all the difference!

Less than two weeks remain to submit your nominations for BHMVA’s inaugural 1895 Living Legacy Awards!

Named for the year our historic home, the First Battalion Virginia Volunteers Armory was built, these awards honor the strength and spirit of a building that has stood for over a century as a symbol of service, pride, and progress.

The 1895 Living Legacy Awards celebrate individuals who carry that same spirit forward by preserving, sharing, and reimagining Black history for generations to come.

🏆 Award Categories
1. Black History Visionary Award honors the creativity and innovation of a leader continuing the legacy of Carroll Anderson Sr., founder of BHMVA.
2. Enduring Legacy Award is inspired by Richmond’s own Arthur Ashe, recognizing those who use education, culture, or the arts to build meaningful and lasting impact.
3. Youth Leadership Award is in honor of Barbara Johns, celebrating a Virginia high school student who demonstrates courage, integrity, and leadership in their community.

🗓️ Nomination Deadline: Friday, November 7, 2025, by 5 PM

Awards Ceremony: Winners will be recognized during the Arthur Ashe Exhibit Opening on February 4, 2026, at the museum.

Help us recognize the changemakers shaping Virginia’s story and carrying forward the legacy of those who came before.

Petersburg Arts Council to Host Distinguished Celebration and Book Release at the Petersburg Public Library Event Center

The Petersburg Arts Council proudly announces An Afternoon of Poetry: Celebrating Professor Latorial Faison, an elegant literary celebration honoring the Pulitzer Prize nomination of acclaimed poet, educator, and author Professor Latorial Faison. The event will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Petersburg Public Library Event Center, marking a momentous occasion for our region’s emerging arts and literary community.

Admission to An Afternoon of Poetry is free and open to the public, though space is limited. Guests must register on Eventbrite and to arrive early for the Meet & Greet Reception beginning at 12:00 PM.
