Burns members and staff have really taken to our DIY snack program. Every Friday, our YDP Cindy Pierce dreams up something fun and hands-on to share with the kids, and it’s quickly become one of those little traditions we all look forward to.

Most recently, the room was full of laughter as the kids turned apple slices, peanut butter, pretzels, and a handful of candies into the sweetest little reindeer snacks. It’s a simple idea, but it brings out so much creativity and gives everyone a chance to slow down together at the end of the week.

Over the past year, our BGCSEW Pine Bluffs site has seen membership double, new partnerships take shape, and a stronger sense of belonging settle into the building. We’ve been grateful to join in on community traditions like Trunk or Treat and the parade, showing up not just to participate, but to support and celebrate alongside everyone here.

Heather Hawley, our Unit Director, has had a huge hand in helping make that connection possible. Her work to build relationships, listen closely to families, and remind folks that the Club is far more than “after-school care” has helped the site grow into a true part of the Pine Bluffs story.

We’re grateful to be here!

We’re happy to introduce our 2026 Youth of the Year, Nathan H.

Nathan is thoughtful, and driven. He plans to study Surgical Technology at Laramie County Community College after graduation, with the long-term goal of becoming a surgeon. He’s already dreaming big and working hard, and we’re proud to stand behind him as he takes these next steps.

Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Club's premier leadership program for teens. It helps young people find their voice, build confidence, grow their public speaking skills, and share the experiences that have shaped who they are. It’s a program that opens doors, strengthens character, and gives teens the chance to see just how far their potential can take them.

Join us in congratulating Nathan and wishing him luck as he prepares to compete in the state Youth of the Year competition.

We had an incredible turnout at this year’s Clubsgiving. Nearly 180 kids, families, and community members from our West Jefferson, Meadowlark, and Teens sites joined us for a full Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, stuffing, rolls, and green bean casserole.

Our staff put in a lot of time and care to make the evening feel special for every family who walked through the door, and it showed in the way the night came together. After dinner, everyone enjoyed games, activities, and a board game raffle that brought a lot of excitement.

Thank you to everyone who came out and shared the evening with us. It was a good night of connection, and we’re grateful for it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Every year, our Christmas Angels bring a kind of generosity that quietly transforms the holiday season for families in Southeast Wyoming. They’re a dedicated group of community members who choose to remain behind the scenes, but their impact is anything but small.

They make sure every child receives the essentials they need, a few heartfelt wants, and two pairs of shoes — snow boots for the cold days ahead and tennis shoes for everyday wear. They also understand how long the holiday break can feel for families, so they put together food bags filled with supplies, Safeway gift cards, and even jump-park passes to give families a chance to breathe, laugh, and enjoy time together.

What they do goes far beyond gifts. It’s compassion in action. It’s neighbors taking care of neighbors. And it’s a reminder that, even in the busiest season of the year, there are people who deliberately choose to show up for children they may never meet.

Their kindness shapes the holidays for so many, and we’re honored to witness the difference they make.

This week, we’re recognizing Angela Goforth, Unit Director at our Burns Club.

Before joining us, Angela spent 23 years working in Telluride, Colorado at a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Center, with her last eight years serving as the Director of Grants and Finance. She loved advocating for clients, bringing preventative curriculum into local schools, and being part of a true grassroots community organization.

When her family moved to Burns, she joined the Boys & Girls Club as a Site Coordinator, hoping to find that same community-based connection in her work again. Over the last three years, she’s found exactly that. Angela has genuinely enjoyed working with the kids, their families, and the Burns community.

Her favorite part of her job is building positive connections with members and watching them blossom. Creating a place where kids feel safe, have fun, and can simply be themselves is what makes her heart happy.

Angela has four children of her own and loves canning, baking, hiking, fishing, water sports, and spending time in the mountains.

We’re grateful for all she brings to the Burns Club.

Our Meadowlark members reached 80 percent of report cards turned in, and we couldn’t be more proud. Thank you to the members, families, teachers, and staff who helped us get there. Report cards play a key role in keeping our grant funding strong, which helps us keep memberships affordable for families in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Here’s why report cards matter:

• Improved programming. Our Unit Directors and Coordinators can see where members are excelling and where they may need extra support. It helps us shape programs that truly meet their needs.
• Stronger academic support. Report card data guides our reading and math enrichment, tutoring, and one-on-one help so every member has the chance to grow.
• Measuring impact. It allows us to understand what’s working, what needs adjusting, and how we can keep improving.
• Better decision-making. With the right information, we can place resources where they’re needed most and create stronger opportunities for our members.
• Motivation and confidence. When kids can see their progress, it encourages them to keep going.

We’re incredibly proud of the effort our members put in—and we had a great time celebrating with root beer floats. Here’s to more learning, more growth, and more moments like this at our Meadowlark Club in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

This week, a group of moms from our community dropped off a huge variety of snacks — just because they wanted to make sure every kid went home with something to eat. Their generosity filled our tables and our hearts. We’re so thankful for the people who find simple, thoughtful ways to support our kids every day.
