Shifting from dry, fire-prone conditions to a cooler, wetter weather period. Isolated dry lightning poses a wildfire threat, with new fires like the Dollar Lake Fire causing air quality alerts in specific regions. However, a significant shift is anticipated by late weekend and into next week, bringing daily chances of rain and thunderstorms, particularly in southwest Wyoming. This increased moisture will lead to cooler temperatures, with possible severe weather risks, including strong winds, heavy rain and hail as we transition to cooler conditions.

The weather outlook for the High Plains indicates a shift towards cooler and wetter conditions in the coming days. Temperatures are notably lower with isolated rain and thunderstorms, bringing threats of dry lightning and strong winds. While rain remains sporadic until Sunday, dry lightning is a daily concern. A significant change is expected from late this weekend into early next week, as a monsoonal pattern emerges, promising daily rain and thunderstorms, particularly in southwest Wyoming, along with increased cloud cover and much cooler temperatures. This cooler and wetter period is anticipated to last through Wednesday of next week, with abundant cloud cover and widespread showers and thunderstorms expected.
