STAPLES COLUMN: "Gunn’s “Superman” was a hit for me last year. ... Say what you will, but that was the most Clark Kent-focused Superman we’ve seen in a while. For me, Clark Kent's human side is the draw to Superman content, and if you feel the same, boy, do I have some recommendations for you. Check out "My Adventures with Superman," "Superman & Lois," "Justice League" (2001-2004) and more. https://buff.ly/ybJNiYu

As of Tuesday afternoon, Laramie County is no longer under stage 1 fire restrictions. The Laramie County Board of County Commissioners approved an item lifting the restrictions at a meeting Tuesday. The restrictions first went into effect March 17 following weeks of high winds and unseasonably dry weather.

At the March 17 commissioners meeting, Laramie County Fire Warden Matt Butler recommended imposing the restrictions after it was discussed at the March fire warden meeting. https://buff.ly/wW0FfYV

TO DO: Age has no impact on the love of a game or an itch for competition. The Wyoming Senior Olympics will prove that with summer events back in action this weekend. The events start today, and anyone can watch.

Athletes from Wyoming and across the United States will compete in team sports and individual events, with some who are aiming to qualify for the National Senior Games in 2027. Individual summer sports range from archery to pickleball, mountain biking, powerlifting and more. Team sports include basketball, golf scramble, softball, swimming relays and volleyball, which will likely feature the most competitive energy. https://buff.ly/p2l8Mpo

The Laramie County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday acknowledging receipt and acceptance of the Cheyenne Safety Action Plan, a federally funded initiative designed to reduce serious traffic crashes and fatalities throughout the Cheyenne metropolitan area.

The plan was developed through a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant awarded to the Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The federal grant funded the entire planning process, said MPO Senior Planner Jennifer Corso. https://buff.ly/GZSxeX6

A Laramie County Circuit Court denied a request to reduce bond from $10,000 cash to $5,000 cash or surety for the man whose conduct in a domestic violence incident resulted in a two-and-a-half hour standoff with police.

The attorney representing Joshua Swift requested that the 34-year-old’s bond be reduced due to the lack of criminal history, strong community ties and need to work to provide child support for his children. https://buff.ly/uyYQ9LT

With affordable housing being a hard-pressing issue in Cheyenne for some time now, Mayor Patrick Collins has been trying to find ways to secure additional funding for projects aimed at increasing housing opportunities for residents.

Most recently, this additional funding has come from companies behind some of the region’s largest data center and energy projects — first, a $3.5 million donation from Related Companies, and now a proposed $2.9 million donation from Tallgrass Integrated Logistics Solutions LLC. https://buff.ly/8QpgXBn

Saturday, June 6, was a day 22-year-old Alyssa Medina had been working toward for years. The Cheyenne-born pageant contestant won the title of Miss Wyoming almost two weeks ago and will be heading to Florida in September to compete in Miss America 2027.

In the meantime, she’ll still be around for events like Cheyenne Frontier Days this summer to hopefully inspire other women to go for Miss Cheyenne or Miss Wyoming in the future. https://buff.ly/crmhtQH

WyoFile Story: A Wyoming judge struck down three abortion laws on Friday, the latest instance of the courts here rejecting attempts by state lawmakers to curtail the procedure in the Equality State.

Retired District Judge Thomas T. C. Campbell ruled the laws violated a 2012 amendment to the Wyoming Constitution that protects individuals’ rights to make their own healthcare decisions. The Wyoming Supreme Court in January cited the same provision when it struck down two statewide abortion bans, and a different judge noted the amendment in April when he blocked enforcement of the state’s new “heartbeat” bill. https://buff.ly/mtn2dqu
