STAPLES COLUMN: There are so many solid Christmas movies out there, and with so many out there, it’s hard to have a fresh take on a story, let alone a story about a character as iconic as Santa Claus, but Netflix’s “Klaus” from 2019 does just this. ... Along with others like “Santa Claus: The Movie” from 1985, and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” from 1970, we see the origins of how Santa Claus came to be in this film, but there's also so much heart and realism to this story. Members of the Cheyenne City Council met Wednesday for a work session to discuss and hear public comment on potential projects that could appear on the 2026 sixth-penny sales tax ballot.

Collection of money authorized during the last specific-purpose tax vote — which took place in November 2021 — is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. If that happens as expected, sales tax would revert to 5% in Laramie County until new projects are approved. https://buff.ly/SgsiFCx

SPORTS: Josiah Fernandez knew basketball was always going to be in his future.

The Cheyenne South senior grew up around the sport, thanks to older brothers Jeremiah and Julius — the former of which graduated from South in 2021. Watching those two play basketball not only inspired him to do the same, it also lit a fire in him to be better. https://buff.ly/KGdQi6F

TO DO: The Cheyenne Artwalk is a longtime tradition in the capital city, having just surpassed its 15th anniversary in July.

There have been many changes and iterations over the years, and it has come a long way from Open Door Arts owners Dave and Georgia Rowswell’s living room many years ago.

What began as merely 10 artists and a night called Art Design and Dine has turned into a monthly after-work staple in the community, with more than 10 venues involved, dozens of artists, and the freedom to explore downtown and its galleries at your own pace. https://buff.ly/6Mg4JBA
