I shed tears of happiness because there aren't many of the wise ones and in front of me are such precious souls. I've always loved this song which is so much more powerful in our Mother Language. An English translation would miss the mark. It's like when a grandma hugs you or calls you "my child" even when you relate only by the clans you have. My child... the distance those words travel when it comes from being with a grandpa and grandma, even if it's for a short half hour. If you have a grandma or grandpa still, visit them

As I sit here planning the things I want to make I am thinking about my trip and all of the unreal magical moments and memories. Love life, take time for yourself and find that balance with family and relationships

"MENDING THE SACRED HOOP Spiritual interpreters, men of great knowledge and wisdom, prophesized that in this generation, the Sacred Hoop will b mended, the nation will begin a new era. Remember Wounded Knee of 1890; remember your relatives, your grandchildren, and remember that when the eighth star appears, the end is near. Pray and sacrifice for Wolakota (peace), pray for the spirits of those who are buried at Wounded Knee and pray that there will be no more Wounded Knees perpetuated against natural peoples throughout the world. Four times we rode. Four years, we remembered and prayed and sacrificed. We are relatives. Let's walk together and lose no more. Let us tell the world that we lived and will continue for the next seven generations. We will wipe the tears of our Nations. -Mitakuye Oyasin.” Birgil Kills Straight Our generation are strong as a direct result of our lakota people standing up to the oppressors. Not only fighting back against the long knives. They fought a spiritual battle to keep our ceremonies, language, songs alive for us today. We arent underground anymore, we arent silent any more. Young ones dont know the sacrifices our grandparents went through for us to be here today. Its up to us as a generation to keep these ways alive for the next 7 generations. Take pride in who you are and where you come from.
