The conspirators broke one of the vehicle’s side mirrors and the rear windshield wiper and etched a derogatory message into the body of the vehicle,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Illinois, said in a news release.

UPDATE: According to a court document, the suspect charged with the attempted murder of a 16th District Chicago Police Department officer on Oct. 27 in Jefferson Park was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet for his June 25 arrest. In the Oct. 27 car chase, the suspect allegedly fired his weapon eight times, striking an apartment window and a parked car window along Montrose Avenue and a police car during the chase, the document said

New businesses proposed for storefronts in a Jefferson Park building. The site has a long development history, as the city of Chicago once acquired a portion of the property through eminent domain. While this site has been redeveloped, the Jefferson Park business district has been left with several vacant lots, as years ago the city encouraged demolition in anticipation of new construction which never materialized in many instances.

Car chase reportedly starts with Jeep striking squad car near Milwaukee and Gale Street in Jefferson Park, driver then shoots at police car and the Jeep eventually crashes, striking another police car near Eastwood and Meade. Suspect in custody, gun recovered, charges pending, police said. Officers did not return fire, and no injuries reported, police said. At one point, Jeep being driven on its tire rims, damaging street.
UPDATE: The Jeep was reported to have been stolen, and there reportedly were several shots fired by the suspect, police said. Officers did not return fire, police said.
