I hope the world will hear this small voice—this is a voice of pain from Cambodia, a country that is currently being violated by Thailand, yet being painted by Thailand as the one who started the war.

1. Thailand told the world that Cambodia was the one who fired first, when in fact, it was Thailand who started it. Not only that, but Thailand has also distorted the truth both within their own country and to the global community. This act has deeply hurt the Cambodian people—being violated and then blamed by a more powerful neighbor just because they have more money and international influence. But we believe truth is not measured by money or power—it is measured by integrity. Just like how we judge a person not by their words but by their actions, the same should apply to countries.

Thailand claims to love peace and to be doing good—but look at their actions:

1. Thai forces entered and shot a Cambodian soldier dead.
2. Cambodia requested to settle the matter peacefully at the ICJ, but Thailand refused.
3. Thailand unilaterally closed the border.
4. Thailand threatened to cut off electricity and internet supply to Cambodia.
5. Just a few days ago, a Thai citizen assaulted a Cambodian officer and fled.
6. Before the attacks even began, Thailand expelled the Cambodian ambassador and recalled their own.

So I ask—are these the actions of a peace-loving country? Or a good neighbor?

Cambodia is an old country that has suffered through so much pain and oppression. All we ask for is peace. We are a small nation with a small population—how could we even dare to invade Thailand, a country so much larger?

This is a message written by an ordinary Cambodian citizen, with nothing but the hope to show the world the truth and ask for justice.
Don’t take my word for it—please look at the facts for yourself.

American Beauty (1999), directed by Sam Mendes, is a darkly comedic and poignant exploration of suburban life, existential crises, and the pursuit of happiness. The film follows Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey), a middle-aged man trapped in a monotonous job and a loveless marriage to his materialistic wife, Carolyn (Annette Bening). Lester feels disconnected from his rebellious teenage daughter, Jane (Thora Birch), who struggles with her own insecurities and resentment toward her parents.
Lester's life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes infatuated with Jane's best friend, Angela Hayes (Mena Suvari), a self-assured yet naive cheerleader. This obsession sparks a midlife crisis, leading Lester to quit his job, blackmail his boss for severance pay, and pursue a carefree, rebellious lifestyle. Meanwhile, Carolyn engages in an affair, and Jane develops a relationship with their enigmatic neighbor, Ricky Fitts (Wes Bentley), who finds beauty in the mundane and secretly films his surroundings.
The film delves into themes of repressed desires, societal expectations, and the search for meaning in a seemingly perfect but hollow suburban existence. Through its layered characters and symbolic imagery—such as the recurring motif of a floating plastic bag—American Beauty critiques the facade of the American Dream. The story culminates in a tragic yet redemptive ending, leaving viewers to reflect on the fragility of life and the beauty hidden in everyday moments.

Damage (1992), directed by Louis Malle, is a psychological drama about a British politician, Stephen Fleming (Jeremy Irons), whose life spirals out of control when he begins a destructive affair with his son’s fiancée, Anna Barton (Juliette Binoche). What starts as an intense, obsessive passion quickly turns into a self-destructive obsession, exposing the fragility of his carefully constructed life. As Stephen becomes increasingly reckless, the affair shatters his marriage, career, and relationship with his son, revealing the devastating consequences of unchecked desire.
Malle’s film explores themes of obsession, betrayal, and emotional ruin with a cold, clinical precision. The restrained yet charged performances by Irons and Binoche heighten the tension, while the elegant cinematography contrasts with the raw, unsettling emotions on display. Damage is a haunting study of human weakness, showing how desire can obliterate reason and lead to irreversible damage—both for the individual and those around them. The film’s abrupt, tragic ending leaves a lasting impact, underscoring the futility of trying to escape the consequences of one’s actions.

Storyline: From a humble background and with traditional values, Irish Chris Wilton (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is still struggling financially despite being a recently retired high ranked tennis pro. He has taken a job as a tennis instructor at an upscale London tennis club, although he knows there is a better life for him somewhere down the road. He is befriended by one of his students, wealthy Tom Hewett (Matthew Goode). Chris starts to date Tom's sister, Chloe Hewett (Emily Mortimer), a girl-next-door type who is immediately attracted to Chris. Chloe quickly knows she wants to marry Chris, and through her businessman father, Alec Hewett (Brian Cox), tries to help Chris and their future by getting him an executive job in Alec's company. In his life with the Hewetts, Chris begins to enjoy the finer things in life. Through it all however, Chris cannot help thinking about Nola Rice (Scarlett Johansson), a struggling American actress who he meets at the Hewett estate and who is Tom's unofficial fiancée. Nola is vivacious, and she knows the effect she has on men, including Chris. Unlike Chris, Nola is not accepted by Tom and Chloe's mother, the outspoken Eleanor Hewett (Dame Penelope Wilton). Chris has to decide if he can give up what he has been able to achieve with Chloe and the Hewetts, or if the passion he feels for Nola is stronger than the finer things in life to which he is now accustomed. He may go to any length to have his cake and eat it too.
