We are excited to announce that "the" Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad debuted locomotive 1776 this morning, which was repainted and lettered using renderings and graphics generated by the EDO Trains/398 Consultants, LLC, team (design below), based, of course, on the iconic Delaware & Hudson bicentennial scheme and with changes per the chefs at the railroad's Von Storch Shops in Scranton.

Congratulations to the team at Genesee Valley Transportation Co., Inc. on another beautiful tribute to American railroading!

It's March 10th, 1976, and Jim Crosby caught the incoming Conrail executive team inspecting the soon-to-be former Erie-Lackawanna Southern Tier main line, three weeks before "Conrail day," when the EL's gorgeous OCS train (and PC bicentennial tailcar) will be no more.

This is my first attempt at adding Super-8 sound to a Regular-8 silent film and I do hope you enjoy the final product as much as we do!

At this very minute on this very grim day, Amtrak suffered it's worst disaster up to that point with the tragic collision between a light Conrail power move and Amtrak's Colonial in Chase, MD. The following video is the national coverage of this tragedy and evolving analysis as days went by subsequent to the wreck.

The number of things that had to go wrong at the same time (including that if the Colonial passed this spot ten seconds earlier this all would have been avoided) lead to numerous changes and a general strengthening of safety requirements across the industry.

We keep a good thought for the memory of those passengers what died in this tragedy and for Amtrak engineer Jerome "Jerry" Evans. Footage is provided as educational-only courtesy of EDO Trains.

We catch triple-header GG1s in freight service, Metroliners in both Amtrak paint and PC/USDOT varnish, a local freight with an SW still boasting it's Erie-Lackawanna jacket; the NJ Transit "Jersey Builder" with a rainbow of former Great Northern and Burlington Northern Empire Builder equipment.
