UPDATE: POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN TRIPLE MURDER IN MONROE; ALL THREE SHOT IN THE HEAD, ONE A 2-YEAR-OLD BABY: Monroe police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a brutal triple murder that left a 2-year-old girl and two adult men dead, each shot in the head, in a home invasion early Tuesday morning.
According to police the killings occurred around 2:30 a.m. on October 28, 2025, at a residence in the 2000 block of Grammont Street, near the city’s public works department.
Responding officers found the bodies of 27-year-old Jamal Bosley, 25-year-old Jaborris Simpson, and 2-year-old Jhersi Simpson, the young daughter of Jaborris Simpson.
“Through tireless efforts by MPD officers and detectives, along with valuable tips from the public, we identified and arrested the suspect,” police stated in a Wednesday update. Travis Payton, 24, was taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, home invasion, and criminal conspiracy.
Authorities described the incident as a “senseless act of violence” and vowed to pursue all involved.
“MPD remains committed to bringing every person responsible for the deaths of these victims—including the tragic loss of a two-year-old child—to justice,” the department said. We will not stop until that is achieved.”
The investigation remains ongoing, with police urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
