Ribeye Steak with Caramelized Onions and Crispy Fries 🥩🍟🧅
Ingredients:
For the Ribeye Steak:
2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick) 🥩
Salt and pepper, to taste 🧂
1 tbsp olive oil 🫒
2 tbsp unsalted butter 🧈
2 cloves garlic, smashed 🧄
1 sprig fresh rosemary 🌿
For the Caramelized Onions:
2 large onions, thinly sliced 🧅
2 tbsp butter 🧈
1 tbsp olive oil 🫒
1 tsp sugar (optional, for extra caramelization)
Salt and pepper, to taste 🧂
For the Crispy Fries:
3 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries 🥔
2 tbsp olive oil 🫒
Salt and pepper, to taste 🧂
1 tsp paprika 🌶️ (optional for extra flavor)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Fries 🍟
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Cut the potatoes into thin, even fries. Soak the fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch and help them crisp up.
Drain and pat the fries dry with paper towels.
Toss the fries in olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika (if using), making sure they’re evenly coated.
Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden and crispy. Once done, remove them from the oven and set aside.
Step 2: Caramelize the Onions 🧅
While the fries are baking, heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally. After about 10 minutes, sprinkle in sugar (optional) and season with salt and pepper.
Lower the heat and cook for another 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and golden brown. Set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Ribeye Steak 🥩
Season the ribeye steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks to the pan.
Sear each side of the steak for about 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired doneness. During the last 2 minutes, add butter, garlic, and rosemary to the pan, basting the steaks with the melted butter.
Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Step 4: Assemble and Serve 🍽️
Plate the ribeye steaks and top them with the caramelized onions.
Serve alongside the crispy fries for the perfect pairing.
Optionally, garnish with extra rosemary or a sprinkle of fresh herbs for added flavor and color.
This Ribeye Steak with Caramelized Onions and Crispy Fries is a perfect combination of savory steak, sweet onions, and crispy fries. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal that’s sure to impress! 🍽️🥩
