So stoked! It's not every day that a reigning undisputed female boxing world champ stops by and buys your books.
She is such a badass...She has held the WBC and IBO female super featherweight titles since 2021, and the WBO, IBF, and The Ring female super featherweight titles since 2022.She became the undisputed female super featherweight champion of the world in Feb this year.

It is that simple. Teach Black History. Our stories NOT his story or a white-washed version of history. Black History is World History and it's past time for us to have our historians telling our history. Knowledge is power. Our heritage is rich and we have every reason to be proud.
Our story does not start or end with colonization or slavery or pain and strife. Let's teach all of it including the stories of greatness, creativity, togetherness. Let's build indentity, pride and belonging.

So excited to have made the cut and to be headed back to D.C. next week for book signings and author round table talks. I can't wait!!!

I plan to try to stop by one of my bookstores and hopefully also try to get into atleast more bookstore while I am there...

Soo chuffed! I did a reading in their class last year & these 2 kids brought their parents and asked them to buy my books. They are both in my daughters class and I am extra chuffed that they loved my books so much that even though they have them inntheir classroom, they wanted to add my books to their collection at home.
I remember 6 little girl gave me a big hug after my reading and again today, here she was huging my books and hugging me. There is no better validation than a kid selling your books to their parents.
Some people have asked me, how do white kids connect with your books? My answer is simple.. They love them. They love the illustrations and the stories. They don't have to look like my characters to connect with my books.
They, too, love the affirmations, the characters, and the stories.
I am looking forward to more author visits this fall.
If you are an educator or a parent, I am available for in person and virtual author visits. Please reach out, I love coming to schools , reading, speaking, and doing a fun activity with the kids.
There is no better opportunity to reach more kids and have a broader impact than in schools/ classrooms.
